anyone build a hi-lift mount?

So I bought a hi-lift the other day, and I want to put in on my top brush guard bar when I go off road, I was looking at the tube mounts and they want upwards of $50 for it! Its just a U clamp with a bolt on the top and a wing nut! has anyone built one? I wouldn't know where to start to find the hardware, and I'm not too good with fabricating.

and other have built them for several other places on their own trucks.

I would say if you aren't great with fabrication it will probably be cheaper to buy something than to achieve the same quality on your own. If you build them yourself, you will most likely learn a lot though and the fab work will get easier with every project. Just make sure what you learn is not how to dent a hood if something breaks or doesn't work!
