Anyone else disappointed with the 2019 unveiling of the T4R

Getting rid of the ‘10! I feel like that design is timeless.

Love the 10-13 trails. Beautiful. Really didn't like the more "refined" looks of the 10-13 SR5s - too much chrome, low side skirts, etc. Wish the 14+ trails had more black plastic. IMO the SR5s and the trails look too much alike now.

Any interior shots/video of the 2019 at Chicago?

Through all of the coverage and Youtubes of the reveal, I have yet to find a good quality picture or video of the '19 TRD Pro 4Runner INTERIOR from Chicago. I wanted to see if its the same tiny Nav screen as current or whether that was updated/enhanced with the new JBL Audio setup. Also wanted to see interior to know whether its exactly the same as current or anything else changed. Seems like all the pictures and video are only from the exterior. There is a brief fleeting shot of the 4runner cab as the Toyota guys are doing the after show from the Livestream but not clear enough to see anything definitive.

I wonder if anyone was allowed to sit inside of the 4Runner. I only bring that up because I was reading an article today on AutoGuide.com about how MB displayed their upcoming vehicles but wouldn't allow anyone in. This was in DET though. Not sure if that was the case in CHI.

I thought the same thing, although it seems like various press at least were allowed to get close enough to look in the wheel wells at the shocks and they could have at least got some good shots of the interior through the window which was down on driver side. Just seemed like nobody cared to show it on the inside.

It just reinforces my original decision in buying my '16 TEP new. There's no value add to me in having anything that has been shown in subsequent model years.

Exactly. The longer they take to do a real refresh the better for me. I don't want to get the upgrade urge.

Bump, not sure if someone answered this or not, but I was also wondering about the new TRD Pro wheels? Are they 16's now with a lower offset? It seems like they look different but that could be my tired ol' eyes.

16's are for Tacomas. Tundra's have new wheels. 4Runner is supposed to be same wheel with more offset.

Yea I think the 10-13 trails do look the best, especially the silver with black over-fenders. Front end looks more aesthetically appealing to me. I had the satoshi mod for a while then bumped a deer and it hasn't been the same. The fan is much louder and the belt squeals when I stab the throttle. The rack is nicer also. I too was hoping for some black accents with the rename to TRD OR.

Those blue gauges are easy on the eye. How else will I balance my eyesight and sanity while running all of my LEDs on the highway?

Dealers are talking all sorts of crap. Was getting an oil change and tire rotation earlier this week and they were talking that the 2019 will get the Taco engine and tranny :ybrick:

That's a giant step backwards. I just traded my 2018 Taco for a 2018 4runner specifically because of the 3.5 liter engine and transmission.

I think they just don't know and are speculating.

Everything says it's going to be the same engine, or the dealer techs would have received some spec sheets and updates by now.

I kinda want one, but with the issues I've seen people having with the Focus RS I'm reaaaaaly weary of the long-term for that power train.

They claim that a proper NA V8 is in the works.

I toyed around with the idea of trading the 4Runner in for a Tacoma a few weeks ago. Spoke with a dealer and had the perfect truck lined up. TRDOR DCSB in Cement with Premium and Tech pkg for a great price. Test drove it and I could not get over the powertrain. Gear hunts like a mofo and it has this really annoying drone, honestly sounds like a civic with a muffler. I also fiddled with the seating position quite a bit and just could not find the right comfort. As most have said when you sit inside the Tacoma it feels like you're sitting on a flat floor whereas in the 4Runner you feel like you're seated more upright and sitting in something. Dealer called me back to see if I wanted to go for a second test drive and I declined. Just didn't feel right sitting inside and driving the Tacoma. If the 6th gen 4Runner gets the Tacoma powertrain then I'll look into the 2019 Ford Ranger or whatever the next GX460 is.
