Anyone else disappointed with the 2019 unveiling of the T4R

I've been following that thread. Their stuff looks top notch. I haven't grown tired of the existing system in the 4R yet. It's a giant upgrade over the shitty oem system i had in my subaru forester that I replaced with the 4R.

I'm kind of an Audio junkie but only to a certain degree. The highs and lows are extremely noticeable with OEM+ upgrade. If you decide to upgrade I highly recommend checking them out and give Daniel a call. You hear noises/sounds/instruments with their acoustics on some songs that you never new existed. Plus, the bass isn't rattling your car apart or annoying your neighbors. Volume at 40 is about the equivalent to MAX on the stock system.

No change is so much better than a change for the worse. It seems that the people that complain the most about the dated 5-speed transmission and 270hp are the auto blogs. Most of us are pretty happy with it overall.

I dont think a single person on here would say no to the 4runner being better at using the power. I would not say i am happy with it. It is very disappointing overall. This truck couldnt get out of its own way. Might as well have a scooter motor. Sprint Booster helped me a bunch... but this truck should have more power/trq. Its insane that i have 270HP and get 16MPG

As far as power I would rather have less and run for 300K easily with good maintenance than have the reliability of a Jeep.

Your lift, beefy tires, and sliders all contribute to your power and MPG loss. You can't complain about crappy MPG when you start modding your truck. Keep it stock if you want better MPG.

Thanks for your concern. I bought my 4Runner NEW and Un-modded. I had the exact same disappointment on day one of ownership.

I know exactly what would happen when i added my mods. Didnt make a shit of difference when I was already underpowered and getting crappy MPG at stock everything. I can complain about it all. I paid for it. I have every right to complain about lack of power... regardless of mods. You can search my posts and see my disappointment before i did anything.

I guess i should have removed all my interior and went to CF body panels to give me the right(in your eyes) to complain about the glaring shortfalls of this Gen 4Runner.

I bought my 4Runner under the Preferred Pricing Program. The deal I received was far greater than the lack of power... and the savings will pay for a supercharger when avail in CA.

Funny thing about all the MPG stuff is that while the supercharger will add power, I doubt there will be any change in mileage. It could get worse. As I own a stock ‘78 FJ40 I could care less what mpg it gets as it will still be better than the 40. Not hard to beat 14 mpg when tuned up. People that want good mpg should buy some unibody junk. Gas mileage is fine for what it is. I could use another 50 torques or so when towing something up a hill. I wouldn't mind one of those twin turbo f150 engines, but then again I doubt you are getting the kind of reliability out of those things that make the 4runner so popular.

I guess you confuse most everyone. You knew it was "crap" before you bought it (from day one so you did test drive and thought it sucked, right?), yet you bought it anyway so that you could have the right to complain about it? Forgive me but that is fk'n weird.

I'm not a fan of the power output, but I wouldnt say I'm disappointed in the truck. It gets me anywhere I want to go and its been on a wishlist of mine to own a 4runner since I started driving. Tried-and-true reliability is what we pay for right? The engine+transmission has been working for 10+ years and people are still buying it. Why would Toyota change anything.
