As someone who lives in an area that gets snow, I absolutely hate LED headlights/tail lights. I get they're bright. I have retrofitted several of my vehicles but when you can't see anything while driving on the free way in snow because your headlights and tail lights don't put out enough heat to melt the snow, it becomes a HUGE turn off.
On that note tho, I do see Toyota giving the 4runner LED fogs. Atleast.
Auto High beams seems like something they'd offer on the limited and not on the other models which I'm fine with.
And as for the auto wipers... **** that. I've had a few vehicles that had them and I absolutely hated them. In fact, the main reason I sold my BMW was because the auto wipers. No way to turn the option off and have regular intermittent wipers is stupid IMO. Let me control my vehicle. My friends 14 grand cherokee has it, he hated it but he was also able to turn them off and have regular intermittent wipers. If I can turn the function off, fine but if they pull a move like BMW and replace the intermittent function with auto sensing wipers, I, unfortunately, won't be buying another T4R.
All this new tech is cool, sure but when it comes to different climates and different people, some will hate it. Prime example is the new LED stop lights. They won't melt the snow causing traffic issues. Sure,they make heated versions but most cities wont fork out for the heated versions. I'd be worried about manufacturers doing the same. They'll put the heated into their higher end models but leave the rugged/lower models with something that'll fall short.
HIDs with LED fogs as an option for a "lighting package" in the T4R otherwise its halogens, rain sensing wipers WITH the option to turn it off and throw in the auto high beams with the lighting package. Keeps the people like me that buy the T4R for its old school ways available and simple but gives the people who want a poor mans Lexus the option for upgrades. That's the route I'd like to see them go.
