Anyone else special order a 4Runner?

I was told up to 14 weeks for delivery of my 2016 4Runner TE, but that was all dependent on what was on the boat at the time the deposit was paid. If one close to what I wanted was already in transit, it could be as short as 30 days. If it's having to be made in Japan (as I'm assuming all 2016 models are at the moment), then 14 weeks would be more realistic. Have you guys special ordered a 4Runner before and how long did it take for yours to come in?

Ordered a 16'TRD-P on 10/30 and it was also being built that day in Japan, (dealer allocation that happened to have the options I wanted)
It was supposed to have hit the port on 11/25 and supposedly at the dealer in the midwest on 12/12. So, that's almost 7 weeks I guess.

Have you been keeping in constant contact with your dealer to get that sort of information or is there a way to track it?

Special orders.

I ordered my 2016 4runner TE with KDSS on 10/12/15 and the dealer confirmed the following day by e mail. He followed up 8-10 days later with an assigned VIN# and gave me an approximate date of landing at Port of LA. He expected 11/14 but would advise when it did. It arrived early and I picked it up on sat 11/14.The whole transaction was "painless". I love it.

Sounds like I need to get up my dealers ass about it then as I haven't heard anything since I put the deposit down on 11/12.

I had to "order" mine a year ago because there was no inventory in the entire province. I took deliver four months less a week from when I signed the purchase agreement. But that includes a few weeks while my dealer tried to locate a unit for me. I think the actual factory order to delivery was 12 weeks less a day. Keep in mind that I'm in Ontario so there's a bit of extra rail time getting it here from the west coast.

Fortunately for me, the boat will bring it to Houston then it'll get trucked into the DFW area. I just got word that the order is in and we're looking at 60 days at the moment. VIN won't be available until it hits the docks.

if the vehicle is already in the system and not already allocated, you can get is a quick as 10-15 days depending on dealer swaps and distance.

new builds off the assembly line take ~ 2 months to travel from japan to dealer arrival.

Apparently North Texas has been having a hard time getting in 2016 Trails with the KDSS. The few lots that I've been working with get a Trail Premium in and sell it within a week at this point, but none of them have the KDSS system which is a factory install. I also learned that Toyota ceased making the 2015s about a month ago, so production is ramping up to make 2016s full tilt.

took five weeks from the day of my order by phone. was given updates by email and received a phone call the day my 2015 TE arrived. Just about to the day of original estimate and exactly as I ordered it.

No, I have not. Prob end of this week I'll check in and see if it's still scheduled to come in on the 12th. Prob be an extra day or so, as I opted for the Simoniz paint protection and the clear bra.

I was blessed that the 2016 TEP I wanted, in the color I wanted, just so happened to be on the lot. I grabbed it before anyone else could. Had a whopping 16 miles on it when I drove it off the lot, and most of those were from my test drive.

Meant to be, I guess...

Dealer told me the waits are pretty long, and the wait for the Pro is simply horrendous.

production for 2015 ended back in may/june.

MY16 Order Dates:
June 1, 2015 - May 10, 2016

I "claimed" a 2016 Trail Premium that was exactly what I wanted and was "in production" around the first of October 2015. It arrived in Denver, CO on the 10th of November. Once it hit the dock in California, I got a VIN and the dealer could track it on the train to Denver.

Well worth the month wait to get exactly what I wanted, plus gave me a month to sell my jeep...

Dealer said the boat is sloooooow, so now won't be in the US till next Tuesday and then another week or so to get to the midwest...uuugh. Waiting sucks..

So it sounds like this is the only option, huh? I am going to the dealer tomorrow to test drive with intention to buy a 2016 Trail Premium in white. Hopefully they can acquire one for me in a reasonable amount of time...

Hey Rico! I used to live in Munster!
