Anyone going to Indy 500?

So I'm sitting in a hotel right now at 3am in Plainfield, Indiana and I'm bored with jet lag. Just got here a few hours ago and I'm going to the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday!!

I was just wondering if there are any other members on here who are race fans or going to Indy this year?

I did not go, but my father went with a group of college buddies. They haven't missed a race in over 35 years. My sisters wedding was Saturday night and at the end of the ceremony he drove to Indy to meet the group on no sleep and they got on their party bus they do every year and did their thing. The ending was a shocker.

That ending was definitely a shocker! It was so frickin hot and humid there, but we had a blast!

i went to HS in indy..I've been to several of those races. Lots of fun man.

My dad and sister were there! I went last year, but couldn't this year due to just having our baby girl.

I'll probably go next year again. My dad buys the same 4 tickets every year. :banana:

Nice to see some race fans on here! Quicksilvr, I hope you and your family are safe after all the tornados in your state. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thanks, the tornado's were south of us. I do know several people from Joplin, and thankfully all were safe.


Love the pics, it's too bad that it seems to always get hot the day of the race. It can be 70 degrees the day before, but magically it's always 85-90 on race day. lol

My dad's seats are at the end of turn 4, looking down the home stretch. When JR got up into the wall on the last lap, that was RIGHT in front of them. Crazy.

That's awesome! I got to see him sliding across the finish! Glad to hear you guys are ok too!

Cool pictures. I was there once a long time ago for the Brickyard 400, I think back in the early 90's. Would be neat to go again someday.

I couldn't believe it either when he crashed. I felt bad for him. He ran such a good race too and did such a good job managing his fuel to put him up front for the last few laps. I wanted him to win, but oh well, rookies make rookie mistakes. If only he would've just slowed down a little when he tried to pass on the outside on that last turn and he would've been golden. He had enough of a lead that he didn't need to push it that hard, but I think he just started thinking about how he was going to actually win the Indy 500 on his 1st time and lost his concentration. He will never forget that one. Wheldon deserves it though, he sorta just came outta nowhere at the end of the race and just swooped everybody!

That's cool you knew JR. I hope he wins a future 500 and redeems himself.

I watched the Coke 600 on tv that night and that was a crazy finish too! Junior running out of gas! I felt bad for him too. He hasn't won in a while.

Yeah, I would definitely like to go back. It was a costly trip, but I'm already thinking of saving up so I can go again next year. Although, since I live in SoCal, I'm also thinking that next year I may just get really really good seats at the Long Beach Grand Prix instead and still save a lot of money compared to going to Indy.
