anyone have a yakima/thule ski rack?

before i go ahead and buy a rack for my snowboards on my stock crossbars.... just wanna see if anyone has clearance issues with the bindings when you load the boards with the binding facing the ROOF of the 4r, been reading reviews online about the issue, but not people reviewing the 4runner with the racks other cars. and yes i know about the ski lift on yakima racks

I don't have skis or snowboards but my yakima racks are about as high off the roof as the stock crossbeams. Now the snowboard holder sits higher so it could feasibly sit high enough to flip them over.

You're going to be stuck with the round bars from yakima. I have a set of the aero bars but they aren't manufactured anymore.

I have a Yakima base bar set up with Yakima Fat Cat 6 racks with no issues. I have tall bindings on my skis and they have plenty of clearance over the roof.

im gonna be running just the stock crossbars...the fatcat 6 is what I'm probably gonna buy..

I run the Thule version.... Flat top 6

I have the FatCat 6 on my Runner, and I need to run them at the angled setting to have boards on with bindings facing down.

I have the Thule ski racks, supposed to fit 6 pairs of skis, and all I have to do is disconnect the ankle strap (not strapped up) on my bindings for it to fit. I have the rack attached to the OEM cross bar by the way
