anyone have electric brake booster problems/failure?

Lately I have been noticing that the electric brake booster has been louder than usual and sounds strained or different. I have no indication that there is anything wrong other than the change in noise. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a problem with this system and what it took/cost to fix. Thanks in advance.

Can't tell you that. Just bought the truck in July 2011 and have not done that. Think that would help? Thanks. Trying to get input before taking it to a shop or the stealership.

Just wanted to bump this one back up.

Are you getting like a squeaking noise - especially right after the booster pump shuts off? This noise should only last a few seconds.

I've done a lot of searching on this and seems to be somewhat of a known issue (across Toyota even: LX470 Squeal around Master Cylinder - Club Lexus Forums). I'm assuming that the squealing comes from the brake fluid passing back past the one way valve beneath the accumulator, but just a guess.

So I'm wondering 2 things:
1. What have people done on this? Just shell out the like $1500 bucks to get it replaced or what?

2. Can anyone see this as being a danger, or just an annoyance?

Thanks!!!

Hello everyone . My name is Minh . I am new in here . Nice to meet to you all !!
About Toyota electronic power brake booster problems : Noise , check engine light , ABS , Brake light on , No brake at all or brake booster run all the time . There usually only 1 failure in that booster > Dont spend over 3k at the dealer , don't spend 2.2K for part . dont put in the used one . send me your email and the old parts i will rebuilt it for you . money back warranty .

Thank you

How are you guys rebuilding your units? I've had a hard time finding parts for these units as most everything comes as an assembly (I have my old unit that failed due to a single o-ring that I keep meaning to fix), parts such as the accumulator tank and pump tend to be assembly units only, let alone finding seal kits.

Also do you have an index for the Skid Control ECU part numbers? They vary greatly between applications, but the part numbers do not exactly exist in Toyota's part fische as they are part of an assembly. I ran into an issue where a customer had bought a 4th gen with a non-4Runner booster unit (my research showed it was possibly a Prado unit) which caused the 2WD vehicle to believe it was a 4WD.

.

i have not seen a leaking o-ring before but if it is just an o-ring i believe i can find one . Yes Toyota don't sell any part to fix those .You have to know with part fail so you can fix it . there are only 2 main parts in the brake booster assembly : skid control ecu ( big unit where your brake level connect to ),electronic pump (attached to skid control ecu with 1 rubber hose and 1 metal line ).... the skid control ecu is a seal unit and barely fail .the electronic pump is the most common problem . there is 2 part in there . accumulator and the motor . accumulator content nitrogen to increase pressure . the motor to pump up brake fluid . So to rebuilt it you have to test for which part is bad . if you need help just in box me . thanks

I bought my 4runner and it has 202,000 miles on it. I believe the brake electronic pump is beginning to fail. Accumulator makes this weird noise. It's being checked at my local mechanic right now. No idea how much it will cost but will keep you posted.

mechanic says booster is fine. However, I bought a pump and actuator on Ebay because that noise although seems normal, it keeps going off. I might replace the entire pump assembly

Just curious what you ended up doing with this issue. I have an '08 Lexus GX with a similar issue.
