Is there anyone in the Lubbock TX area willing to help me out with checking out a Runner I'm going to get? A mechanic or someone who knows these vehicles a lot better on the boards here than I do...

I would be will to compensate very graciously...

If nobody on here has anyone I would suggest the local Toyota dealer. It'll cost more than a private mechanic but if you don't already have a private mechanic that you trust I wouldn't start a relationship with a prepurchase inspection. At least with a Toyota dealer there's some reliability and accountability.

I agree with Jim. Or you could scan Google for other mechanics in the area that have good reviews andset something up with them.

Just have the seller take the truck in and arrange a payment to the shop over the phone.

The dealer is probably what I'm going to end up doing. I just figured if anyone on here possibly knew of anything I should look for specifically that is common to be problematic.

I just know from forum experience that the people that are on them tend to be a lot more passionate and I may could get an even better assessment...

Just read your post. Give me the information and I can check it out. I'm not a mechanic, but I'll give a try as if I was buying.....

:thumb3:Side note: Holy jeebus I didn't know there were some of us in Lubbock, Texas. We should meet up.

I'm not opposed to it at all. Although the time I am here will be very limited, meeting new people is something I'm never against.

I'm in Lubbock too. I'm pretty sure I've seen LEO's truck parked downtown before... assuming it has T4R.ORG stickers on it.
