Anyone know how to remove the spare tire?

i can't find the long tool that you would usually use the lower the spare... i actually believe it didn't come with my truck when i got it. anyone got any bright ideas on how i can lower it?

It's the crank that you crank up the jack with. It should be under your right rear seat.

You can borrow mine or go to the junk yard and buy one.

A really long 3/8" drive extension bar will also do the trick. But nine times out of ten new owners just haven't looked under the seat for the jack tool.

if you don't have the tool then, THIS will work.

it's a pain, but what I did was use a small/medium length 3/8" extension with no socket. Get right under the tire and put it in the crank then start lowering it. Had to do it like this cus I found out the hard way after getting a body lift the holes don't line up lol

If you do have it it's in two pieces. One should be locked down with snaps under the seat along the seat frame. The other should be in the little black pouch around the same area. Pull the back passenger seat up, and then the cut-away carpet. Should be there.

sorry i should have told you guys, i know where it is usually... this is my second 3rd gen... i'm gonna try the 3/8 extension. thanks for the tips!

you can unbolt it from the other side of the tire too. thats what i had to do with my BL. good bit of info about a BL is to take the spare out because after the hole doesnt match up...

You don't need the second part for the tire. It goes on the end of the crank and has a loop to engage the stock jack.

haha, maybe I was wrong.. I think I used it once so maybe it was only the one piece and not both. The only time I use my stock jack is when getting my front struts/coils in and out otherwise I use my hi-lift to lift it, floor jack when in the shop.
