Anyone noticing hairline cracks on plastic trim above glovebox door.

Anybody else noticed hairline cracks in the plastic trim just above the glovebox? I noticed some on my 2015 sr5 while cleaning the interior. Took the 4runner to the dealer and they told me this was the 2nd they seen in 6months. It's out of warranty so nothing was done. Just wondered if anyone else noticed any issues on their 5th gens.

I have it. I noticed it late last year. I use 303 aerospace UV protectant and car guys super cleaner. Unsure if that's the cause or what. It's at the very corner next to the right vent. First time I saw it it was kind of a bummer. But I hardly notice it now. I just brush it off.

Just checked. No cracks in the 2013 or 2016. All we use on the interior plastics is 303.

I had the same issue and took in in under warranty and they replaced it. Thinking that possibly it could have happened from using various cleaners I purposely did not use any cleaners on the replacement, only a microfiber cloth. The second is all cracked up just like the first one. Its not under warranty anymore and has not really got any worse. So many cheap plastics and finishes in this thing I just learned to deal with all of them.

Just checked. No cracks in the 2013 or 2016. All we use on the interior plastics is 303.

No cracks on my 2010. It's in a garage at work during the week, but in my driveway all other times. Always used Armor All Protectant on the inside plastic, vinyl and door seals. 303 on the outside plastic.

Yup, noticed 6 months into ownership. Nothing but a damp microfiber has ever been used to clean my dash.. water only. Pics shortly

Unfortunately it is very difficult to get a picture of these hairline cracks. If you people don't want to believe it ok. But the people who are have issues should make a report with Toyota like I did. I am sure I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

So I encountered the same exact problem. I'm pretty convinced that it's the 303. I put that stuff on there and sure enough it has happened to 2 4runners. Got it replaced in one of the 4runners and haven't used the 303 on that trim piece and so far no cracks. I use a damp cloth to clean it now. It has been 1 year.

The problem is, I have not used any cleaners on my dash or interior in the 10 months of ownership. Damp microfiber only.

Mines cracking and scratched up from just wiping it down. My dash also had part of the finish come off with a mild interior cleaner. I’ve decided I’m just going to wrap that piece in a similar carbon fiber design as my console.

I suspect an inferior grade of plastic. These vehicles are made in Japan, so I wonder about multiple contractors providing the same part. Not sure how the contracting of parts works there.
