Anyone remove the 2nd row rear seats and replace with a shelf?

Hi! Thanks for all the encouraging info here. Much appreciated!

I think I want to take out the right-hand (60) seat module from my second row, but keep the left-hand (40) seat in case I need space for a third passenger. (I don't have a third row.)

I've taken out the right hand portion, giving me lots more space. Does this compromise the safety of the left-hand seat, used for a passenger as normally?
