Anyone running Bilstein 5100 fronts without a sway bar?

How long have you been running your 5100s without a front sway and have you had any issues with the struts blowing?

My Toytec Boss fronts blew in a year without a sway bar (and the 4Runner isn't my daily). Just trying to get an idea if the 5100s will last longer.

What did toytec say about this?

I ran a few years without fronts and never had an issue with blowing my OME's.

I would get some front disconnects. My best mod was replacing my sway bar links with extended rears and disconnect fronts.

I went about 6 months without sway bars front or rear, with my 5100s. Have no issues with the 5100s. Now I'm running just the front bar, until my brother can help me fix the rear (need a welder). I don't see why not running a sway bar would cause shocks to fail so quickly. I know the sway bar takes some of the force from the shocks, but not THAT much. With or without a sway bar they still function the same way

Nice glad to hear your OMEs lasted for a couple years without any issue and no front sway. I'm def considering quick discos but I also really like how the truck rides with just the rear sway.

My Toytecs were over the one year mark so they were no longer covered under their manufacturer warranty.

Yeah I don't know what the deal is but I have heard it from a bunch of people that the 3rd Gens like to eat front shocks if you're not running a sway. Bumpers, skids, and a winch probably play into them blowing quicker than usual ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My OME"s slightly loosened up after running no sway bar but I dont notice it now that the swar bar is connected.

I would still like to know what Toytec has to say since this seems to happen to a few people with boss shocks.

Well they claim that 5100s will blow quicker than the Boss shocks. I find that a little hard to believe. Plus the 5100s have a lifetime warranty through Bilstein so I'm not too worried about it.
