Anyone running the tune from TTFS?

I’m trying to get some feedback before deciding to pull the trigger. I reached out with a few questions about their tune and their response is below. It looks promising as they touch some transmission parameters also.



Thank you for reaching out to us about your 2018 4Runner. We can write you a custom tune for your truck based off of what modifications you have or have not done, fuel grade, and the application the truck is being used for. In terms of fueling, to get the most out of the tune performance wise, we recommend that you use 93. If you do not have access to 93 or prefer to use 91 octane, we can write you a tune 91 octane if that is the primary fuel you would be using. In regards to the transmission, we do make changes in the ECU that allow for a smoother transition between gears and optimize shift points. We also adjust throttle response and drive-ability as well to get rid of that factory "sluggish" feeling that everyone complains about. I will include a link from our website that has some additional information in regards to pricing,gains,etc.. We send you a Handheld flashing tool that is included in our remote tune price on our website. Please let me know if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to help! Mat is my first choice but I can’t get a firm expectation when it will be available. His Tacoma work seems pretty comprehensive.

I emailed him this summer and he said 30-45 days or so. After 45 days I emailed and his response said “this winter”. Then last week I saw him post on 4ruuners.com looking to see if there was interest... that has me thinking he may not get us a tune. He also remove his website reference to 4Runner tune that use to say “coming soon”.

I’m ready if he had one. If you know more about the schedule pass it along.



If not, Frank Smith has a strong following but I can’t find much Toyota feedback.
 
We have a number of customers who run TTFS tuning on their BMW's and seem to be very happy... I had no idea they do Toyota/Lexus as well though

I reached out to Mat. He’s definitely going to do a tune. I’ll probably wait for him.

TTFS has been good to respond to my questions but so far all their feedback is BMW-focused.

Just out of curiosity, what does "definitely going to do a tune" mean? Seems like his project has been put on hold recently, did he give you any sort of timeline? Asking because I'm eyeing these tunes also and I want to see all options available.

This was his response. I basically said I needed to know if he was doing a tune Because I wasn’t going to wait if he was bailing out.... he didn’t elaborate but I’m going to wait for his tune.

We are definitely still doing the 4Runner tune, we just removed it from the site because everyone kept asking us how to buy it and it was just getting people confused.

Thanks, I kinda figured that might be one of the reasons they pulled it off the site. Hopefully that means they realize the interest in it and push it out a bit faster!

Well it looks to me like there's two choices, TTFS or Vivid. Talked to one of the guys at TTFS and sounds like it may be more aggressive the the Vivid as it needs to be wrote or rewrote after additional mods and that's $250.00.

Leaning toward TTFS as they are in the game, too much speculation for me to wait around on OV. Wish I had some 4Runner feedback on TTFS as the review on here just posted on the Vivid tune was said not much improvement on pedal response.

Also TTFS answers their phone, missed a return call and I was able to call right back and they were very helpful.
