Anyone with Borla exhaust?

Found a dual exhaust Borla for sale for $400. I'm considering replacing my current cheap exhaust because although it sounds good, it is loudest at 2000 RPM, which is exactly the RPM at highway cruising speeds, giving it a very bad drone.

Does anyone here have a Borla, and if so, does a slightly oversized spare still fit? The second pipe goes right by the tire so I'm worried it won't fit my 265/70r17 spare.

Is the Borla worth the money? (I know this is all personal preference but I'd like to hear some opinions!)

I have an 05 V6 with a dual exit Borla. It definitively has the drone to it. I pull a trailer several times a week and every time I do, it makes me want to call an exhaust shop and have a normal exhaust installed. Not sure how it would affect the performance though as I bought it this way.

If you want quiet, don't go Borla.

I have a Borla on my 2005 V8 and love it. It doesn't drone. You only know it is there when you get on the gas or go up a hill. Seems pretty high quality as well. Now I will say that my new 2008 V8 with stock exhaust seems like it isn't even running, so I might be jaded now. My wife likes the sound of the Borla for what that is worth.

I will say that one issue is the spare tire. I have the same size spare as you and it is touching the exhaust. I aired it all the way down, kicked it around to get it to not touch. It has under a 1/8" between it and the exhaust.

If you decide against it, let me know where you found it. I am looking for another one for the newer 4Runner I just bought (2008).

Borla Exhaust, 2003 - 2009 Toyota 4Runner

It's from an 04 V8 2wd, so I'm not sure if it will fit your 2008, but if it does, go for it. Shipping might be a pain.
I want it but it's hard to justify at the moment.

i wouldnt pay over 300 for the borla, even tho its used. dont expect to pay over that. i didnt even pay for the asking price when the guy sold his to me.

My XSP had Borla duals when I bought it.

It did drone some and was just too loud for my tastes, especially when on the throttle. If that's what you are going for, then you'll like it.

I disagree with the pricing comments above. This kit retails for $1200 new. So if you can get it for half or less, that's not bad.

Best of luck.

i wouldnt pay over 300 for something used and has aged. i was luck to get my used borla at a good price, guy really wanted this gone and he get me a deal.
also the borla is the most toned down exhaust setup i have, i had a cherry bomb vortex, it was loud, and then the flowmaster super 44, that was loudest.

aren't u supposed to pick up a set of wheels today ;-)

for a lower price yes, if you give me a stupid low price, ill be happy to take them out your garage. just like the borla exhaust, i didnt have to low ball him, he really wanted to get rid of it, stop me on the cash count and said thats it.

everybody viewing this ad needs to be careful. I'm interested in buying this but the guy is asking for us postal money order only, or straight cash. no PayPal/Venmo or any other form of payment.

red flag?? or
it's almost as if he wants a payment method that irreversible, a big fat scam. and let's be honest, dual pipe borla exhaust retailed for around 1200 being let go for under 4? who does that? he even said it was fairly new and in great condition still.

this just doesn't add up you guys be careful

Why is under 4 a scam? I picked up my first Borla for $100.

That part is sketchy. And the fact he only wants wired money.

i would pay 300 for it honestly, looking at the age of the system, i was lucky, my exhaust was still shiny, make sure the muffler do say borla. i bought my system off a guy who had an 05.

Yeah that does sound odd. In my dealings with the seller he seemed reasonable but I never went to actually look at the exhaust so I can't confirm its legitimacy. I just talked to him again and he says he's only going to do local sale from this point on.
