Apilachicola National Forest FL wheeling trip!

Had a great time in the national forest this past week, went over last Thursday left panama city at about 8:30 am. Took about 2 hours to get there. Right away hit some trails along smith creek landing in the bottom south west of the national forest. Had been raining the while ride there so we expected the muddy trails we first ran into

Ended up setting up camp a little further down highway 65 about a mile past wright lake at hickory landing. Smith creek at a creepy abandoned RV at the hunting camp so that was a no go.
Hickory landung was a Beautiful camp site along the apilachicola river.
the overland platform work perfect, sleeping on the air mattress was better than sleeping in my bed at home!
65° in the middle of the day and 40° weather at night wasn't a problem with two sleeping bags and a quilt. But over all perfect weather for this trip

Hit a few trails along 65 through out the trip, found a few really nice trails but most dead ended due to bridges being out of trails becoming over grown, but can honestly say apilachicola national forest is most just mentioned for hunting, though there are lots of trails, not many have any kind of difficulty.
(All in the group 04 4runner 2WD, 98 zj 4WD, 02 wj AWD, 01 dodge 1500 2WD.)

Stopped by st gorge island since it was so close, beautiful place, a few ideas on maybe camping there next time, defunitly can't wait until the next caping trip,maybe a couple months and a few mods later

I'll have to try and make a trip out that way sometime later this year when I move to Tallahassee.

Yeah great place, just a little too flat, I wish the trails had more difficulty
