I'm still quite torn on this. The only type of damage I would really be concerned about is the screen cracking. If that were to happen, and its a big IF, you're really only saving $50 by buying AppleCare.

It's like making a $200 bet that I'm going to break my phone and the payout if I win is only $50.

True...but X is a brand new phone design and probably brand new internals & layout (TrueDepth camera, dual OIS, new display that bends at the bottom) and a very expensive glass back (that is MORE expensive to replace than front display).

I am returning my Otterbox. Sticking to my Ringke case. And get AppleCare.

how does apple care work if you have to use it. meaning, are you without a phone while they fix it? or will they give you a loaner.

apple care is for all of the user inflicted issues right? the warranty will cover all of the apple issues

I think that for long repairs, they do give you a loaner...but more often than not, they give you either a new phone (if no refurbished avail) or a refurbished. If you insist on keeping your old phone, then they can give you a loaner.

Standard warranty is 1 year for hardware (“apple issues”)...but 3 months for software/diagnostics. AppleCare extends everything to 2 years.

I had it shipped to a buddies house, who was un-successful getting one right away. I wont be surprised if mine mysteriously disappears for a few weeks until his arrives.

Got it. Pretty darn awesome in pretty much every way!! Returned Otterbox Pursuit...too big and cheap feeling. Instead got Speck Candyshell + AppleCare.

How are you finding FaceID? Does it work quickly and accurately? How does it compare to TouchID?

Unfortunately due to the apple store glitches it looks like I'll be waiting another week for mine. First iPhone preorder I've missed launch day for...

Works as advertised. Is it faster than TouchID? No. Maybe a few nanoseconds slower in the grand scheme but i like it because you can open your phone with wet hands...and read messages intended only for your eyes. So, overall, i like it...and definitely preferable IMO over a rear fingerprint reader.

The BIGGEST difference (vs. my 7 Plus) is when i am watching HDR/Dolby Vision movie on it. Damn, Mad Max is just insanely to watch on the X!! Mad Max literally shocked my whole family when we watched it on X. Insane dynamic range and brightness.

Did you catch Apples earning release Thursday? They beat net profit by a solid billion. Yep a billion dollar beat. That's pretty damn impressive. Fridays close saw them at over a 900B market cap.

That's not high, that's insane. The highest I've seen any android with SD 835 run is in the 170000 range. That was with OC'ing the chip. So Apple's new chip beats that out of the box by 35%? That's huge. I've never been a big fan of Apples OS but damn I want one. lol
