Planned obsolescence...we’ve heard about this before...is it true for iOS devices?

Got my X on Friday. Gotta say I really do love it. Came from the 7 plus. I will say I'm not extremely happy with FaceID but It does work fairly well. Touch ID is still far more convenient in my opinion.

I saw huge lineups to get this phone. I would never wait overnight out front a a store for a phone, no matter how impressive the specs.

so far, I am fairly impressed with the Face ID. I have tested it in the dark. with sunglasses. one eye open. eyes closed. it has worked more consistently than the touch ID. the touch ID if your hands were wet, dry, gloves, you had issues. I like the raise to wake and by the time I swipe up the face ID has already worked and the phone unlocks. The other cool thing is the notifications on the screen don't show any info, unless you unlock it. It just shows notification and when you look at the phone it will update/show who from and the message. I had to go back to old school way of killing apps since the swipe up doesn't work. So far the missing home button has been a non issue for me.

To kill apps, you can still swipe up once you see the “minus sign”.

Depends on who you ask... i've been using Face ID "Windows Hello" for over 2 years on other devices, namely my Microsoft Surface Pro.
When working I am often times wearing gloves and the FaceID actually saves time and creates more convenience otherwise I am constantly taking on/off gloves.
My mom on the other hand has really dry skin and jacked up finger tips from working and cooking. X is the first phone she can actually unlock because the finger print reader registers like 20% of the time.
Ideally, both would have been nice but FaceID is where it's at.

i do the swipe and hold until i see that red kill icon. then swipe up or click on it to kill the app.

In addition, there is some issues of DxO and how their rankings seems to be based on who advertises them.

Got mine on release day. I really like it so far, Face ID is great, only time I have had issue is when sitting at desk and it’s laying down face up. I think it is better than Touch ID. No home button takes getting used to, but after the 2/3 day, i don’t missi it at all. Coming from a 7+. Battery life is significantly down, but it should be, smaller size and i am playing with it a lot more now. Animoji’s are fun, especially for the kids.
There will be a lot of new exciting things with the cameras etc, looking forward to the future.
7+ was a little big for my liking, got used to it and enjoyed, but for everyday the X is perfect.
For my 6 i used speck candyshell grip and 7+ I used Speck Presidio Grip. Wanted to try something else. Tried otterbox symmetry for a day, returned and went with an under armour case. Liked the UA for the most part, went back to BB to feel the Speck Grip like I had on 7+. Just couldn’t pass up the feel, so back to the same case I have had for 4-5 year or so. Speck Presidio Grip is very thin, yet feels so sturdy and secure. Definitely grippy, almost too grippy right now, but I know after a little time it’s perfect! The face side ledge is deeper than most thin cases so screen protection is great. Highly recommend the Speck Grip line!

losing the home button also meant losing reachability, or so I thought. I found it in the general > accessibility setting. then under interaction. once activated you just swipe down on the bar at the bottom of the screen.

So I skimmed through this but basically the iPhone X beat out the pixel 2 in stills but its videos drag it down to a point below the highly coveted DXO mark of the Pixel? Hmmm Google payed some good money
