from Toyota as the 4Runner is not available to our engineers in Australia.

Latest info:

"As it stands right now, we have a prototype bar on a 4Runner and that's about it. I've heard nothing more on the 4Runner bumper front so I would say it is at the earliest 6 mos away. We would love to have it made, but we have heard no further information on this project."

The interesting thing is that they will have a bumper for the FJC before the 4runner. Not sure what the deal with that is considering only 40k will be made the first year and we have well over 200k on the road... dunno their logic but keep on emailing them regularly... Give them your 2 cents so they know.

Lets not forget that they already have an ARB bumper for the new pathfinder and the lr3.

The biggest issue with getting a 4Runner bar built for us is that the 4Runner is not available in Australia. All those other vehicles you list are, so it is easy for them to build a bumper for it. However I do feel we need to correct your email statement, bullbars are not made for the KIA, Rav4 or Hyundai, only chrome Nudge Bars and they are an entirely different product."

Don't hold your breath! Their reply looks like they are not interested in 4Runner business. The 4Runner is into its 4th production year, you MIGHT see a bumper in the last year of production, so they can just make a bunch and move on, MAYBE!

The sad part is I'm like 15 minutes from thier shop in Renton. They don't need a 4Runner, they've already built the prototype. From the lack of progress, I'm still not sure they think there's a market. The only way to change that is to keep pestering them. Two guys at my office have ARBs which KILLs me! One has a Xterra and the other a JEEP LIBERTY! :repuke:

I felt the same way when i emailed ARB this yesterday. His response is above. I know they don't have Bull-Bars for the little imports, only safari bars, but I had show in some way how silly it is that we haven't seen anything yet.

As a plan B, I have sent an email to these guys to see if there 05 Taco bumper might be considered to fit 4Runner, but no word yet. I'm sure it would require mod. to fit Runner, but who knows, the president is a Toyota buff, so maybe he would entertain the idea of marketing a 4Runner version. Maybe some of you might want to drop them line.

It's not quite safari style, but it does look good and with major increase to approach angles. I bet you could mount the ARB bracket for CB antenna to it as well.

What would make an ARB better than the allprooffroad one? Anything?

It really is annoying that ARB has bumpers for those *other* trucks and not the legendary 4Runner.

I would buy the other one just in spite of ARB if it is the same quality.

Alright fellow 4Runner owners,
I put together the letter below and just want to get some feed-back before I shoot it to allprooffroad.com. My previous attempt was to a secretary over there, but I am planning on sending this to the Tech Dept., as well as the Sales Dept. I am also open for including a list, similar to ARB List, for those who are interested in purchasing a winch bumper if All Pro Offroad will produce one similar to their 05+ Tacoma version.
Let me know what you think, and if you would like to be attached to a list as potential customer. (or if you think I should abort the mission.)

Hello Tech Dept.,
My name is Ray Dabela and I belong to a 4Runner club/forum, T4R.ORG. Fellow members and I, 50 to be exact, who own 2003+ 4Runners have recently compiled a list of members who are looking for a winch-bumper/bull-bar. This doesn't include a number of members from another club/forum, Toyota120.com, who are interested in the same product.
Initially, our hopes were to purchase a product from ARB, who already has a Bull-bar for the 05+ Tacoma but nothing for 4Runners of the same body style. 4 months of back and forth, "we still have no time frame or green lights for production" from ARB have lead us to seek other alternatives. Recently I came across an article for your company and the well designed bumper you have for 2005+ Tacomas in an off-road magazine. I am really hoping Jon has plans, or might consider production, for a Bolt-on winch bumper for 2003+ 4Runners.
I would be happy to provide a complete list of serious purchasers for your consideration, but could estimate a minimum of 20, ready to buy customers. As you might imagine, many of us are serious about turning these excellent 4x4's into more capable machines, and being able to venture further into the back-country,

FYI:

Demello Offroad already makes a winch capable front bumper for the 03+ 4runner.

That link is for the non-winch bumper but can accomodate one with minor modifications (very minor).

This is another viable option btw. The bumper shown is the same one as the one I have right now.

Other options are to wait for ARB or source other vendors.
