ARB601 digital inflators

Sorry ahead of time if this should be in another forum

Does anyone else have an issue with the locking chuck properly securing itself to the tire air valve?

Mine latches on, but if the device moves the smallest amount it immediately starts leaking air fast or sometimes even just right off the bat once "connected" it's not air coming through the hose, that function works fine(pushing side button for deflate or trigger for inflate), it's strictly at the valve connect

Thoughts?

I have the ARB with a dial, but it gives me the same problem sometimes. I push it down firmly and hold it still and it's usually OK.

Spoke to a great guy over at ARB customer service, aware of this "possibility"
He didn't make it sound like it was a regular thing but suggested, as not all valve stems are created equal (I have stock trail wheels n tires), that you wanna press that locking lever down, surround stem nice n tight (don't stab it), n adjust the rotating connector so the latch(lil piece of metal inside the chuck) theoretically threads to the tire stem...
Also keep in mind that air would be traveling in faster from compressor vs the leak at connection....
I tried the rotation approach prior to the phone call, no dice really

Other than that, it knows the score

Replacement

Was sent a new one(still the ARB digi), totally night/day...

Haven't gotten my whole air system configured but this guy just locks right on, very solid...was waving the thing around n no leak whatsoever

Hopefully remains true with air flowing in/out

Like TRAVELIN said, costly device, but was able to pick it up at a lower regular cost than most stores plus an additional 20%...why not?

Side note to reason for digital in case anyone considering...ARB says it works faster/harder than their analog(not crazy important) but I've been stuck in the middle of nowhere, Petzl outta juice, trying to do something that ideally been done in daylight...figured if I have a tire issue, why not a lit screen...till the batteries die at least(2 AAA's)

strictly a side retailer, n just to point out again, the product(from what I can tell with not having REALLY used it{what does this guy know} is extremely well made, good weight, conveniently designed, somewhat of an upgrade?

Even though I told the reps at ARB it wasn't from them directly, they assured me if I couldn't resolve this on my own, they'd help me out...n I wasn't freaking out at them with demands n all, just good old customer service...been very helpful, with verifying n addressing my concerns on this

Believe it was just a poop happens moment, dare I say rectified

Side shop just as courteous, handled all the shipping n what not...just an online warehouse kinda deal

Only reason for the slight shade on the upper lip, I don't want anyone thinking these companies screwed me over or make junk, quite the contrary

Understood, it is a very well made unit which is true of ARB products, but I was surprised that it leaked air when I attached it to my valve stem.

How is the accuracy of the digital vs the old analog inflator from ARB? ARB states +/- 1 psi but ive been reading closer to 2 psi or more inaccurate

I have the old ARB dial inflator and it is 3 pounds off exactly, I put 40 in I get 37, it is religiously off +3# so it is not a big deal it doesn't fluctuate up or down in its accuracy. I have checked it repeatedly against an craftsman digital that I know is spot on, it is always the same.
