Are my wheels lug or hub centric

I'm dealing with a lot of steering wheel shake when I get up to 60mph and starts to get better above 75mph but based on how hard it's shaking I've been keeping it on the lower side of 60 - making for slow drive's home.

So based on checking out a bunch of threads on this forum I came across this website.

Vibration Problems

This site seems to lead to the tire's being out of balance, my tires are about a year and half old. I did not have this shaking when I first got them but maybe they have worn out of balance?

Either way my question is are my rims lug or hub as I thought the toyota wheels were hub centric (wheel spacer threads) but the site above indicates they are lug and require a special adapter "Haweka" to be balanced correctly.

I have the limited 3 spoke split rims with goodyear wrangler territories 267/75.



Also worth noting I have checked for play in the wheel when jacked up and it seems good, I have poly steering racking bushings and the handling of the 4runner feels great under 50mph. Should I take it to a dealership to have the wheels balanced or is there anything I can check for at home first? Thanks in advance

Factory wheels are hub centric - they fit tightly around the center hub. Some aftermarket wheels are lug centric. I have mine balanced at the local tire shop with the same balancer they use for everyone and it works fine - no vibrations.
 
Tires vs ujoints
Lift the vehicle securely and remove rear wheels. Take it up to 60 or so and see if it still vibrates. If it does your tires aren't the problem. Simple free test.
 
Great thanks guys I was fairly confident the wheels were hub centric.

By U joints you are referring to the drive shaft joints correct? I am not sure I trust my jack stands enough to get the truck up to 60...
 
yeah really, based on how badly the wheel shakes on the road if it is the drive line it will jump off my stands and end up in the neighbours front lawn.

No it won't since the wheels/tires are off, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that on jackstands either.

A simple thing that is often overlooked is foreign materials stuck to the wheel. Usually mud, snow or ice. If you have been in any mud it is worth removing the wheels and scraping anything off the inside that shouldn't be there.
 
Does the vibration go away when you take it above a certain speed?
(Edit) Totally missed the first line where you said it feels better above 75. I was having the same problem about a month ago turned out to be a bad u joint. I was able to get mine checked for free, but I think if there is any play in the driveshaft a ujoint is a pretty cheap thing to replace
