Are non-OEM calipers squishier?

Hi, swapped front/back brake pads this weekend and found a piston on each front caliper was seized. Got replacement reman Duralast calipers for the 2 front wheels, swapped them out and bled them but they still feel a bit squishy. I've run a few errands and I do stop well and smooth but seems like I'm pushing a little harder to brake.

Going to re-bleed all 4 brakes today but could this just be from the new calipers? Does the braking "feel" change with non-OEM calipers on the front? Guess I'll find out later but wanted to ask the forum.

You were used to the seized caliper. The difference in feel could be attributed to the difference between the seized calipers and those that function correctly.

I had that same thought this morning. I drove it around a bit this morning I felt really good. I just don’t drive it that much anymore that I work from home, my wife usually drives this car so it’s hard for me to tell since the brakes on our other car is much stiffer. She drove it and thought it felt good and normal.

Re bleed them to be certain. Its not difficult to get air trapped in the ABS module and that can lead to a squishy brake. If the problem still exists, buy or rent a vacuum bleeder or take it in to a local brake shop and ahve them vacuum bleed. Often times getting air out of an ABS module is nearly impossible without vacuum.

The ABS light came on and it started beeping at one point when I was bleeding them. Was keeping an eye on the fluid level and adding to keep it topped off but I guess it got Low and thus the alarm. I drove by a brake shop today and had similar thoughts to just have a pro bleed them.
