Are Sport Edition wheels hub or lug centric?!

Hey all,

Getting bad vibrations and going to get a balance tomorrow. I've been reading lots of threads and most seem to say get a lug-centric balance instead of the hub one because our wheels are hard to balance. Others say our wheels are hub centric, period.

Whhhhat gives? What do I tell Firestone tomorrow?

I have actually. It worked wonders on a set of winter performance tires/wheels I have for my Golf. I just wanted to see if there was some code word I could tell a place like Firestone to get it right instead of plunking down the $125 or whatever it is for the road force. I think the only places around me that have the hunter machines are dealerships anyway.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow and if they don't sound very confident at Firestone, I'll have them skip it and just take it to a dealership for hunter.

most discount tire if not all of them have the RF elite machines. One of the reasons I only buy tires from them is the lifetime balancing and rotations, road force included in that, and not to mention the price match any reputable website or dealer

Yeah, I called around when I was looking to get my Golf wheels done and literally the only places in the Denver area with the RF machine are dealerships. I also prefer Discount too, but they just don't have them here for some reason. It might be a licensing thing with Hunter? I dunno.

no telling haha, all the ones on the east coast do, at least Washington DC and lower. I checked their locations when I drove to key west just in case I had any issues with my new tires while taking that long drive
 
Almost all Toyota factory wheels are lug centric. They need to use the bolt on hub when they balance the tires and you need to road force to get the best balance if you are having tire balance issues...passenger tires should have less than 25lbs force and a truck tire should have less than 50lbs... FYI, the area on the wheel / the bead also has a lot to do with how well it balances. The metal can’t have corrosion or be excessively dirty if you want the best balance.

Make sure they actually try matching the tire to the wheel, not just measure the road force and put the tires with the least amount of RF to the front. It's a more time-consuming process since wheel and tire runout have to be measured (actually that's the easy part,takes a few minutes), and if the need be actually breaking the tire loose to change its position on the wheel to achieve the lowest RF.
