Are the OEM Toyota rubber all weather floor mats cheaply made?

First set I ordered were from a vendor on eBay called "toyotaparts4U". Checked all the pictures, had "4Runner in white letters", pics looked great, OEM. Get the floor mats and they are super thin, lettering was in all black, looked like an aftermarket copy so I returned them. Did more research than I'm proud to admit on part numbers etc., ended up ordering the TRD Pro mats from an online Toyota dealer. Got the mats in yesterday, had an official toyota parts label on the box, mats looked better but are again, super thin, and just have this cheap feel to them. Maybe I'm being too picky, otherwise they look pretty nice, the block tread pattern looks cool as does the lettering. They say "made in the USA" also, but for $150 expected them to be a bit thicker.

Am I overthinking this?

no the OEM mats are thin. I have mine in my basement, haven't been used lol. I replaced them with some thicker ones that have high sidewalls for muddy and snowy boots. I have the 3d maxpiders is what they are called

There are 2 kinds of all weather OEM floor matts. Thin and flat Matts and weathertech like OEM better made Liners.

I compared Toyota, Weathertech, and Husky Liners when i purchased my '21 Nightshade. I ended up with Husky Liners and couldn't be happier. Excellent coverage, doesn't move, held up well over 2.5 years and 35k miles of use. I see great reviews on the Weathertech as well. I also see a general consensus that the Toyota liners aren't as good as aftermarket.

Mine came with cloth mats and those rugged liners, which I used over the winter and just gave a good cleaning to. They seem fairly decent, I am sure aftermarket are better though.

Edge does start to curl on driver mat if you happen to hit it every time you climb in, like mine do.
Makes them look kinda cheap and crappy.

Will probably switch to Weathertech eventually for better coverage

the thicker, OEM liners are made well enough. They just don't have as much coverage as Husky or Weathertech.

The Toyota OEM liners that came with my 2021 ORP are working out just fine. They cover nicely and are decently thick rubber and clean up easily with some all purpose cleaner and a brush. They have served our purpose quite well. I have no real complaints.

I have the OEM liners as well with the same curling issue. Otherwise, They haven't given me a reason to pay for Weathertechs. They clean up well and do their job in the winter. I like them.

I just purchased PN: PT908-89000-02 for my 2010 4Runner from a dealer for $80. They look similar but are little different those shown above (I believe floor mats for 2010-2013 are different than 2014+). They are not heavy duty but I think they will will last, although I could be wrong. They are poorly designed because they are not wide enough or long enough to keep water completely off my floorboards. My previous generic rubber mat would not stay in place on the drivers side and after years I decided this was a hazard worth eliminating, plus it was a PITA. I retrospect, it's probably worth spending $140 on Weathertech, Husky or similar. But I only needed the drivers side floor mat and spending $140 for one mat was painful. My generic works fine on the passenger side and I rarely have anyone in the rear seats of my vehicle.

I was not aware that there are both floor "mats" and floor "liners", which seems stupid to me. But it appears liners are not available for the 2010 model.

When I bought my 4 runner in 2012 it came with both sets of mats. Carpeted and rubber. The rubber are holding up great after 12 years in snow country I’ve no complaints at all. I don’t think they are particularly thin. Easy to clean.

My 4Runner came with the OEM rubber liners, and carpeted floor mats. I have yet to use the carpeted floor mats, because the rubber liners do a great job of keeping water, dirt, etc., contained. I have relatives who have Husky and weathertech liners in their respective 4Runners. I don't consider either to be any better than the OEM liners.

My TRD Pro came with the applicable all weather mats. I have Husky mats in my Tundra. The OEM's that came with the Pro are sufficient, but I don't expect them to last or perform as well as the Husky's because they feel less "robust" I
can't say they are thinner, just not as durable feeling. The Husky's also have better coverage. When the 4Runner's wear out, it'll be getting Husky's.

On a side note, I've had WeatherTechs and I don't like those as much as the Husky's either. Dirt and mud stained the WT's; the Husky's are easier to clean. They also seem to have better coverage over the WT's as well.

That being said, I prefer the Toyota ones to the WeatherTech as well.
