Are used TRD Pros really going for over MSRP 42k+?

Was just looking at TRD Pro 4Runners and I see a lot of listings on Ebay and saw a Cement Grey with 22k miles sell for 42k other colors were listed at same or higher prices.

Is this the trend overall, are they selling used for more than they were new?

Glad I got my 17 TRD Pro in Cement new when I did.

Is it still possible to find a brand new TRD Pro 4Runner at MSRP? My friend wants to buy one and asked me to help him look for one but he refuses to pay markup. I am kind of shocked at what these trucks are listed for...

Bay Area or eBay?

I've seen some in the 50s in the Pleasanton and Walnut Creek area.

Only marked up ones on fleaBay I've seen were special edition colors.

Ebay was were I saw the used Cement one sold for 42k but yeah Bay Area everyone wants 10k over.

There are plenty of deals. It’s insane what some people will pay for some paint and so so suspension
 
When I bought mine back in March the dealership had a black 17 with over 50k listed at 46. As much as I liked it I got my ORP with 9 miles for a good bit less than that. Only way I would have bought a used one was if it were cement of inferno, and I wouldn't have paid that much.

If your near the bay area give Stockton and modesto Toyota a call they have no mark up at all. Unfortunately they will not hold one or take any type of payment to hold it either. I recently picked up a 19 pro for my wife from Placerville Toyota, they wanted a 10k mark up but settled for 5k after negotiating. After the mark up it was 53,968$ after taxes and license it was just about 60k :redbrick:

Yeah, central valley is your best bet. I still think they'd mark up the special edition colors, but let the black and white ones go at MSRP.
 
I got my 17 cement trd pro from Toyota Modesto. Sold to me at Msrp. I called all around and they were one of the few with no markup. They put my name on a list and called me when it was in. Can’t remember if I did small deposit like $100. I had a great experience with them.

Your lucky when i called they said no list, first come first serve. And they would not call to update me on the status
 
I went back through my old messages and found that I made contact with the dealership via yelp. I got a reply back from the owner. See below. Not a

My deal went down like yours did, except all it took was two phone calls, then a picture of my driver's license and CC, which was NEVER charged. It was due in in approx 3 weeks. A second phone call was needed while they searched what was due into the dealer in the upcoming months, so some luck is always involved.

It takes some work on buyers part, for me truecar opened the door to the small market dealer I never saw had a trdp, in any color in the 7-8 months I was monitoring waiting to see what the '19 color was going to be. My hometown dealer, who's not a truecar/costco associated dealer was able to tell me they had a white '18 coming in the next month and told me they had a '19 in the weeks after that, so the dealers can tell you what's due into them in the upcoming months. Both offered at msrp right off the bat, but you still have to go through the finance dept bs which requires lots of "no" 's. lol.

I listened/read a lot of non-sense from dealers (all out of state), Montana dealer would only sell to residents, a Colorado dealer called me after an email chain because he was butt hurt I didn't want his $500 off of a 52k "deal" he got for me and I asked for a msrp sale. It was such a funny recording I've got it saved.
 
I got my 18 Cavalry Blue for msrp out in Mass. Another dealer nearby had the same thing, also wanted msrp. This was back in April.
 
Used TRD Pros

I shopped private party last year for almost 5 months before I bought my used 2016 4Runner Trail, and found that all TRD Pros with limited miles (under 20K), were all priced over 42K. I opted to save the 10K and to get a 4Runner with KDSS. I think that's the better value, unless you value the look of the TRD Pro more.
 
There are some key things that I want in the TRD Pro but I'm not doing the market adjustment thing again. I did it on my Tacoma TRD Pro and won't do it again
