The Morning Sun - 17-year-old arrested in child’s slaying

WESTMINSTER, Colo. —Westminster police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in the kidnapping and slaying of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway.

Austin Reed Sigg was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday after police received a tip that led them to a home near Ketner Lake Open Space, according to a news release from the Westminster Police Department.

“This morning the Ridgeway family was notified of this arrest,” Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk said. “We hope and pray this arrest gives them some measure of closure in dealing with their horrible loss and tragedy.”

Authorities said charges will be filed against Sigg for the May 28 attempted abduction of an adult jogger near Ketner Lake, which authorities confirmed earlier this week was connected to Jessica’s kidnapping and murder.

He is only 17? Wow where did he go bad? What are kids turning into these days. Hope he is tried as an adult, so sad what happened to that girl. Glad CO gets some closure.

So this kid apparently had body parts hidden in the crawl space of his house. The news reported that Jessica Ridgeway had a quick death and was not held long before she was killed. It's a sad situation but at least the assailant has been arrested and hopefully he will get the maximum punishment. As for details on Austin Reeds father, he is hiding out in Mexico and is wanted for multiple warrants in Colorado and a few other states for drug distribution and other assault charges.

I guess nuts just runs in the family.

The news also reports that he will most likely be tried as an adult.
