Hey guys and gals. I'm a newby and I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I'm hoping to find a real person for some questions. Anyway here go's. I have a 96 4runner without working license plate lights. All other lights work without the bulbs in but when I but the bulbs in they blow the fuse almost as soon as I turn the lights on. I have tried everything I could think of and and have searched the web without luck. It is in my drive way with almost all wiring exposed and I'm not seeing anything wrong. I have been pulled over 3 times now and even took it to the Toyota dealer. (They worked for about 10 min after I left the dealer and then it popped again) I dont know what else to do and I need my car at night. Please, help!?.

hi real person here...don't trust anyone else who posts as they are fake!:suspicious: especially that Brian or singtoe guy....:rofl:
check the wiring at the top of the hatch inside the boot to see if it's frayed, that's the most common spot for those to start to go at, other wise get a meter can pick up the contacts of the bulb in the plate holder and make sure your getting a continuity reading, try having someone bounce on the bumper and shake the truck as you do this to simulate driving and trying to get the wires to arc somewhere, if all seems good, I'd head to the pull a part and get a new socket and splice in there, otherwise I'd just start cussing and screaming like a little girl because there's not really another option other than taking hours of going over small wires looking for splits,freys and body metal on wires touch...
so yeah short of either replacing the socket or keep tracking down wires i don't got much for you...however good luck!
