Today I did oil, filter, and ATF drain and fill. I've been running Castrol's Transmax for the last year or two. I bought Valvoline ATF maxlife as Jet.com had a sweet price on it a few months ago. I noticed that in my driving into town tonight my freeway temps were 115-120 and my side road temps rarely went above 132. I have a 1.5 mile slow incline on the way home and I was able to grind it out and get it to climb to 160, but that was it. Fluid level checked when I got home and it was just below the bottom HOT line, so I added a bit more.
But dang, that's like a 15 degree drop on average for those particular conditions. I didn't realize ATF fluid types (they're all Dexron 3 or higher now) mattered that much. I'm picky about my engine oil, but never really paid attention to ATF brand before.
Side note: I do have a B&M cooler as well, which is why my temps are low compared to non-cooler temps.
