Aussie Locker/ Manual Hubs

If I installed a front aussie locker, would I not be able to tell unless it was in 4WD?
Because if it has electronic hubs, which I don't know if it does, the front wheels would be spinning at the hub, not the differential. So the aussie locker wouldn't work unless I put it in 4WD.

Does my 96 4WD have electronic hubs?
Is my theory about the front aussie locker correct?

No, the hubs are always connected. Its just the transfer case and front driveshaft that are disconnected during 2wd.

So yes, you would feel it even in 2wd.


Unless of course, you install manual hubs. Search that one for more info.

Well after a reason trip offroading, I realized if I was going to be driving by myself off road in a group, instead of my Dad, I was going to need a locker.
Retro fitting seems hard to find everything, axel and all.
Arb is to much.
Aussie locker with manual hubs, decently priced, and no harm done when it comes time to drive to school Monday.

Do you have sliders and after market bumper and winch? Seems like you may want to do all that first...
