Automatic Disconnecting Differential – Anyone Locked it in Place?

This is a 2016 Trail with about 24,000 miles. After a third failure of the part in two and a half years, I’m looking for alternative solutions. I searched here but didn’t find any examples, so I’m looking for feedback.

I found a couple of posts elsewhere (here’s one example) and one video from people that have done this modification.

With this change, the passenger and driver side half-shafts will always turn instead of just the driver’s side. There’s no power going to the front until you engage 4WD; in my case with the t-case shifter.
Is this going to grenade the diff, wear out the half-axles / cv joints, or cause other problems?

You might get some info on the 4th gen forum. It seems like I remember peolple using the V8 model non disconnect differential in place of the disconnect differential but it has been 5 years since I used the 4th gen forum.
