Automatic or Manual for offroad?

I ended up deciding on a manual. just a bit more fun all around

cool man, good choice for you,. i do have to admit you get a little bit of bragging rights for having a manual in one of these, they are fairly rare and if that's what you prefer to drive cause you think it's fun, then more power to you man! hope you enjoy it and look forward to watching your build thread...yes, i said it, your build thread, there must be one! haha:olice:

I voted auto. I've owned and driven many different vehicles, several of which were 4x4's. I've never found a 5speed tranny in an SUV or truck that I enjoyed rowing the gears on. The throws are typically long and imprecise relative to many car transmissions. I also prefer an auto for several of the reasons listed earlier including focusing more on the line than worrying about which gear will be ideal for a given obstacle.

If we're talking a car with some semblance of sportiness I'd prefer a manual, but SUV's or trucks definitely an auto.
