Back Hatch Molle rack install

Started this cheap project in order to acquire more storage option in my back cargo area. I started out with a single plate Molle Rack(measurements Length: 15" Width: 10.75" Thickness: 0.188

Hardware I picked up at local hardware store. Parts purchased 1/4 1" 1/2 stainless steel Allen bolts w/ 1/4 washer and nuts. 5/8 spacer with 1/4 hole.https://www.amazon.com/RAF-1248-38-N-0-Round-Spacers-Nylon/dp/B01IU67EEK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1471932052&sr=8-4&keywords=5%2F8+Nylon+spacer

Step#1 Center up mounting holes and marked accordingly drilled using 1/4 drill bite placed on interior hatch panel and centered up proceeding with drilling holes in interior panel using same bite mentioned above.

Step#2 Assemble Plate with the various hardware and place on interior panel and proceed to tighten up nuts. Reassembled interior hatch

Finished product so far so good after storing various small tool and other term need in everyday travel hopefully this helps someone out

I already smack my head on the liftgate enough when it's up... perhaps putting some padding on there via this mod will prevent the cursing (and bruising) that occurs when I do... Looks nice!
 
I like the idea. Does the rear hatch stay up with the added weight?

No Hasn't dropped at all while fully loaded... I am planning to add 3 more plates across the back for add space ... ALSO they make molle in all shapes and sizes for various purposes

Looks cool.

But $90 for that plate?! Is it aluminum or g10?

ETA: It's high strength Polyethylene.

Yea its Poly and yea I ended up getting a single sheet to try out.. I felt like if it was made from aluminum it would be pricey but no clue that always a option in the future I have a template :hippie:
