Backing up sound.

Hey i am having a sound when I am in reverse and moving the first two feet. It sounds like metal moving, and it happens ever time I back up. No leaking and nothing looks wrong. It sounds like up front from the steering rack, not the transmission. Any body heard this? Also it seems worse when in revers and turning. It never happens in drive. All fluids great and regular maintenance kept up with. Thank you all for any help!

Hey thank you for a reply, the sound just makes me wander what's going on. I'm pretty sure I have some brake applied usually when it happens. It sounds like a metal clunk. Almost like when I used to shift my old Yukon into reverse on an incline.

I'm thinking it's your front pads moving back and forth. If it's a loud clunk you can easily feel then I have no idea.

This was happening to me a few months back and it ended up being my universal joint that goes in the tranny but it was only noisy when i was in reverse! just an option and if its not you can just cross it off the list for things its not! maybe it will help!

Thank you! I will check that tomorrow, I'm gona get under and grease them, anything exact to look for for wear. Cracks, wiggle to see if they are loose?

yes i belive that you can put the car in gear and try to wiggle it but idk if your u-joint has been replaced but my stock ujoints had no grease fittings.. But it was not too hard to replace mine!

I hope it's simple, I do know I have grease fittings on both joins. I believe two on each. It never does it in drive, just reverse and only during probably the first foot or two. Just not a sound that makes me comfortable if you know what I mean. Haha
