Bad Alternator on 2013 SR5 with 63K?

Im not having any issues, but while doing a pre trip inspection I checked my voltage with a multimeter and noticed I'm only getting 13.3V with the vehicle running (no accessories turned on). I thought this was a bit low so I had Autozone run their starting test and they said the voltage regulator in the alternator is bad. I have a 3rd party warranty that will cover the alternator, but I just want to be sure the dealership will agree it is bad before taking it in. What do y'all think? Seems very early for a bad alternator.. It's never been through deep water or mud.

I'm sure they will want to verify what Autozone found. After that who knows - may depend on what the warranty says. Alternators are easy to rebuild if you can find a kit. I've done several but could not find a kit for my old Nissan and had to get a remanned one.

13.3 at idle is normal, you should see about 13.3-13.5 and occasionally up to 13.8

never trust a part monkey to diagnose something on your car

Autozone gave me the wrong filter for my sierra denali when I clearly told him its not the right one and his response was "but my computer says it is". Like the guy above me said. don't trust them

Thanks for the replies. My 4th gens reads 13.8 during the same test. And other onlines resources say voltage with car running should be 13.7-14.7, so just wanted to make sure 13.3 is ok.

On initial startup mine is 14 .1 and settles to 13.8
