Bak3rme's Build Thread

it was a metallic grey at advance auto parts. can get the same one at autozone i believe. says wheel paint on the can .

Ok, so just Auto Zone gray wheel paint? I'm looking to repaint my FJ wheels a different color and trying to get an idea of what to paint them.

Good looking 2wd by the way

Haven't posted in a while in build thread. I recently hit 300k. I remember when my parents bought it at 114k. it was passed to me around 210k for school. This rig got me through highschool and now almost college...so you know there is a special bond there! For 300k mark i'll be doing some budget maintenance jobs.

First off last week with fellow 3rd gen member helped me out and we put 1/2 toytec top plate spacer on..now leveling my rig. I don't have post shots of the lift yet.

Also did a transmission fluid change..fluid looked not bad at all but just preventative stuff. In the process I stripped the fluid plug bolt. I proceeded to try to tap and die the hole and add a larger bolt. That turned to be an epic fail..so I have a used tranny pan coming in soon thanks to nissanh. I'll be getting OTRE and ITRE here soon and find time to put that on.

other than that still waiting on the day I can upgrade to a 3rd gen that has 4wd!

also a few pics I've taken in the past and edited

I dont think i've posted this one also..but had to replace valve cover gaskets maybe 10k miles ago..this is what the insides looked like
at 290k

Geez, 300k and it still looks new. It's good to know that these things will last forever. I might be able to hand mine down to my kid if I decide to keep it that long/it lasts that long. By then, it will be an antique! lol

Well I wouldn't be surprised if this truck sees another 300k more...looks like it's found the right owner to take care of her.

Wow I can so relate to you I also have 2wd with like +250*** miles and got mine as a gift for school :) ...Your truck is awesome bro

Transmission was giving troubles. Sold the truck as is. Missed it dearly. Ill be in another 3rd gen later down the road mark my words.

That's terrible just from a "hey I worked on that truck!" perspective...but I guess change is bound to happen. Hope you finally find your 4WD...keep truckin'!

bak3rme, I think I have figured out how to get these videos for you. Bring back some memories?

good times..good times.
the 4runner was sold in spring of 2013.
Had a 2003 350z since then. One day i will be back in the 4runner

This is a very old thread I know, so sorry for resurrecting it, but I have a question about when you had the brush guard on. Did you ever notice it shaking from side to side on streets or on the highway? I have that problem with mine so I took the light guards off. I think its my tierods being worn out and I am going to replace them Wednesday. Any help is appreciated :sorry:

Back in a 4runner!

Hi guys, sold the 3rd gen late 2013 and was pretty upset. I had just finished college and the transmission was going at 300k + miles. Pops told me to sell it and I got 3k out of it. Bought a 2003 350z and was in the car scene for a bit. Ended up putting a ton of guap in it over the years (still N/A). Suspension from sways to bushings to springs and struts, all breather mods and ECU tune, BBKs. Great and fun car. Started tracking it last season and thats a blast. I don't think I can sell it. However, since moving to Boston I need a winter car. Got away with using subways and buses in the winter while I stored the Z. Recently I purchased this 4runner last month and love it. Really enjoy sitting higher up and the smoother ride. First few set of mods were weather tech floor liners and window tint along with some small LED bulbs. Going to do the LED low beams and fogs here soon. Also picking up TRD PRO wheels tomorrow with stock size Nitto G2s. Here is the 2014 SR5 with 4wd! (3rd gen was 2wd).
Here are some pics of the Z and also the runner. Hope Foneman and Dizzydoyle are still active on the forums. Both of those guys helped me a bit when I had the 3rd gen!
