Bak3rme's Build Thread

YUM! :hungry:

You and COB make me want skinny flares and graphite wheels.

What bulbs are you running in the corner lights, probably just because of the lighting but they look really bright. I'm trying to get mine to look like the new tacos and runners.

Thanks! The bulbs are just the factory ones. your right, the lighting made it really bright, but that gives me an idea of putting LED's in there...thanks man!

so i was planning to do a black housing headlight swap with someone. I like the look of it. anyone got any ideas? yay nay? any pics of black runners with black housings?

Glass or plastic?

After getting in a fender/bumper bender, my headlight glass has been broken. Should I stick with glass lens or move on to plastic?

sweet build man

1. what happen to the rest of the pictures? some didn't load on pb
2. looks like you love craigslist, nice finds
3. i like how you said "college budget" yet you got a legit undefeated hat...lol (side note: undefeated isn't as rare anymore in CA as they are in urban outfitters, not sure how it is in GA)
4. how did you do the rear cargo net?

keep up the good work!

Finals are over! got time to do some things. alot of small things are done but i'll get some pics of that later.

got a used/ new to me custom tube bumper. also ordered toyota OME LBJ, bought some tundra coils with newish shocks to replace my spacer lift. i'm just hoping the tundra coils will work.

LBJ should be in next week and ill be replacing them ASAP. mine are original with about 290k miles on em. also changed the rear diff. fluid, found some small metal bits but only 2 pieces, how does the old diff fluid look to you guys?

and pics of before and after of the bumper on.

keep up the good work!

1: yea i organized my PB account and pics got moved around. cannot find them all now ha
2: thanks
3: its funny because here in ATL no one reps it, i have yet to see another UNDFT piece of clothing besides my ONE friend, and only one person has recognized it. i used to be all into the hype but its died out for me. still rock it though!
4: the rear cargo net was an old rear cargo net from some other vehicle my parents owned, not sure but found it in garage. Free find!

thanks man

Oh yeah...I like it better with the tube bumper, can't wait to see the after painted and re-installed pics. Looks nice!

Now sell that Grass guard please? lol

thanks guys. yea the bumper was from supertrooper. and I plan on doing something with the skid plate. i kinda like it, but its really sharp and looks like a quick job. It might seem empty when i take it off.

If you cut it off right where it intersects that lowest section of tube between the frame rails, and painted it black to match the bumper, it probably wouldn't look too bad.

I'm on the plate bumper team, but there's no denying that tube bumpers always give the look of a 4Runner more attitude. I always picture them like a cow catcher (on a train) in reverse... instead of throwing the cow off to the side, it just gets eaten up and run over by the 4Runner, and spit out the back.

BTW... gotta love photobucket for the service they provide, but it sure is a PITA when you want to move some photos around.

Nice build man. Why did photobucket drop your pictures? I always use imagshack.

Your trail pics look pretty good. I almost thought it was a 4WD based on the pics.

:surfer:

Its looking good man. I'm gonna be doing the fluids on mine pretty soon too...

Hey you gonna be getting rid of your stock bumper and brush guard? If so I may be interested... Just let me know.

couple friends helped me install my tundra coils today. color code was blue/blue ..green/green. It actually lowered me 1/4th of an inch but the ride is SOOO much smoother now. better than the 2.5 spacer lift. can't even tell the difference but i'll stick with this for a while. also got help from them to show me how to install lower ball joints. tie rods were a pain for a second until we got the tie rod puller. happy that ball joints are changed. mine had 290k on em and now i'm pink milkshake protected and LBJ protected.

alot of other small things updated but i'll get shots of those soon. didnt have too much time to snap pics while we install the tundra and all.

i was at 37'' fender to ground..now i'm at 36 3/4ths. around there. alignment tomorrow!

updated: 881's now in the front. T4r4life Cb mount on. trimmed the skid plate on the bumper. stripped and repainted bumper. got turn signals on and wired. Valves were leaking so parts to replace are in. Got the plenum gaskets and the valve gaskets. waiting on finals to be over then i'll start doing those. Looks like i'm set for mods for another year. Tight budget now and i graduate in a year! Hopefully I will get a lower mileage 4runner with 4wd and the real build begins...
i'm at 297k miles now. parents got it at 114k. been driving it since 200k-ish
