Baltimore riots...

Early this morning residents of the worst hit areas were out cleaning up trash in their neighborhoods- very encouraging!


The National Guard presence downtown is huge. They are armed to the teeth and EVERYWHERE.

My neighbor next door works in the city- they closed his office early due to threats. It's still not over as tension is still very high...

200 arrests
19 "official" fires (last night)
expected to be 1000 National Guard by end of today
many schools closed
one week curfew in effect
Orioles games moved to Tampa
 
My lord, "give them space to destroy". I've heard some bizarre shit in my life and career but holy crap you have to be joking. You guys are right sounds like she is gunning for the skel, savage vote.

The 10PM.curfew.is in effect and there's still 100s croowding a major intersection.
Bal city PD along with. Nat'l Guard and New.Jersey.St.PD.
Also Balto County, Howard County, AA county, Fred County, PD and FD.

They are poor uneducated "people" who don't know any better than to destroy their own neighborhoods. This happens all the time and it further proves what we already know. Why the surprise? Honestly, I could give a shit what these people do to themselves. It doesn't speak to our society.

You SHOULD care because it can happen in YOUR own neighborhood. No, the problem here is not the poor...it is that most of these rioting idiots feel that society OWES them something. Or they are taught by their parents that society OWES them something. It is society's prerogative to feed them, to pay them, to keep them safe, and ever so often to give them "space" to destroy things.

Look, there are plenty of poor people...my family was such when i was growing up. Did we ever think of rioting? No, because that would mean that my parents would miss a day of work and that means no food on the table. My father hands would be cut into pieces everyday as he would stick his hands into the flow of garbage at his work place (he works in garbage disposal factory) to see if he can find something valuable that he can take home. He worked his way up to become a senior executive at the company. We were taught to study hard and work hard to achieve what we want. Till this day, i have NEVER missed school or work...well, i did call in ONE day because my son had to have emergent surgery on his ankle...i came to work the next day to finish...on a Saturday...and that was the first time i have to miss work in over 15 years. You have to lead by example for your kids to follow. My parents show me the way...and i am returning the favor to my kids. Life cycle.

This won't happen in my neighborhood......and it has nothing to do with you or your family. Nothing. These "people" are different and in every major American city. "Work" is not something they respect or even so much as understand. They are meaningless. Your missing the message which I won't point out for you.

That's what happens when you dont have to work and drop out of school you get bored and don't care cause its not yours...I think its stupid just like the Vietnam vet said " I heard he was a good kid..I believe that but why was he running from the police???? " that guy was a beast...what's bad is it can happen any were and the government wants to take away the rights and freedom to have fire arms to protect you and your family from fools like this...please...:usa2:

I heard some reports that this is the result of mis-directed youths. That this is the result of poor education. Well, here are some facts:

Baltimore School Annual Budget: 1.3 Billion Dollars
Number of Students in Baltimore School System k-12: 103,324 Students
Number of Dollars spent per student: $12,581.78
Cost of Private School Tuition in Baltimore: $5,500.

So, the poor performing public school costs more than 2x the high performing private school... unbelievable.

Maybe its time we stop blaming poor education on poor funding and thin the herd of school administrators, staff, board members, council members, union members, teachers, and wasteful programs. Put that money back in the actual classroom where it belongs. The Baltimore school system has a CEO for crying out loud! How much does he make every year?

There is no reason a public school should not be able to compete with private schools which operate on less than half their annual budget...

I read your post. You talk of how the rioters "feel" and then go on about your upbringing. BOTH are irrelevant. What they "feel" is meaningless because they are outside of reason.

And this is where i disagree with you. You give these people an excuse by saying that they are poor uneducated people...and thus, they don't know any better. That is moronic excuse for these rioters. It gives them an excuse to destroy what others have built. You SHOULD care...instead of turning the other way and giving these rioters an excuse for their behavior. You sound like that idiotic Mayor....

It's not an excuse. It's an acceptance that they are what they are and there is nothing you or anyone else is going to do to change that. They destroy their own community so they can live in their own squalor and remain oppressed. Anyone who has "built" anything there knew full well what the potential was for this kind of behavior long long before this happened. Are you not paying attention? How does this impact you and I honestly?

Parents? Many of these "children" probably came from breeding pairs, the male of which abandoned the female after insemination or, at the latest, birth of the offspring.
