Battery Discharges For no reason

I have a problem here that's stumping here lately. About a month or two ago after several dead batteries I figured that my battery in my 2008 V6 4Runner had a defective cell and got a new one from Toyota. Now for what ever reason when ever I park it inside my parents garage for an extensive amount of time which is about 2 days or more, the damn thing discharges. This happened previously with the other battery.

Does anyone have any ideas to what the heck is happening here because I myself am completely stumped.

Battery terminals clean? If so, do you have an aftermarket alarm, radio, or any electronics? Aftermarket electronics are 90% of the time the issue.

Parasitic drain, something is running when you turn the suv off. Either that or your alternator is not charging the battery properly when you drive it.

what's your mileage now? it could be that your alternator is causing it. can you do a couple of test? test the voltage when it's running, accessories on and off.

If you have a multi meter of any type you can test to see if it's charging. Make sure you charge your battery first and that it is around 12.5 volts. With the car running you should be reading well over 13 volts. If those two things are good you have a draw, pick up a cheap test light disconnect your negative terminal clamp the test light to the negative cable and probe the negative side of the battery if the test light comes on you have a draw. At this point see if anything is noticeably on if not start pulling fuses one at a time until the test light is not lit.

Confirmed it was the alternator the other day after I took it in to have the oil changed. Crazy, replacement cost they were quoting me was about $500.00. Came home ordered a new Denso one from Rock Auto for about $180 (with a 68 core charge) and a new belt and did it myself yesterday. Thank goodness there was a write up on here!

Back up and running, and will see if this alternator will last another 158,000 miles.

atleast you dont have heavy electrical draw, i would of did the big 3 upgrade at the same time since the battery and alternator was out.

good for you, you reached 158000 miles. my alternator went dead at 87000 miles. one day, the battery light on the dash just turned on so I decided to replace it after that. i'm curious why yours did not do that.
