Before I take it in. light buzzing sound when braking

Question for 2014 Trail Edition.

Noticed last week when braking as brake pedal is about halfway in, I hear a mild buzzing sound, definitely electronic, almost sounds like a little air pump and lasts for 2 seconds every time I brake. Any guidance is appreciated, like what is that buzzing sound? Ths.

I believe this is normal as the new 4runners (and i think all new Toyota's) have some sort of pump or solenoid in the braking mechanism that needs to be occasionally recharged from normal brake pedal use. I'm fairly certain this pump is used in panic stop situations.

I could be wrong, but it is not something you should be worried about. It's fairly well documented.

Totally normal. Use the Search function and you will see dozens of thread around it. You'll get used to the sound and wont even notice it. :cheers:

I have a 2021 4runner sr5 premium that does the same thing. Every once in a while I’ll feel a light thump in the peddle as the noise starts. Anybody else feel this?
