Grinding sound when i let off the gas

My 2011 Trail Edition is making a grinding noise when I let off the gas and it sounds like something drivetrain related. It goes away as soon as I step on the gas.

the truck is lifted 3” inches the front and 1.5” inches the back for about 3 years without issue.

I lost my job and I’m doing DoorDash until I find another one, so money is really tight and I need to drive to make more money.

Any idea what it might be? Is it safe to drive?

It sounds like the needle bearing in the front diff. It's a common complaint, especially on lifted 4Runners which put more load on the needle bearing.

Assuming that it is a failed needle bearing, East Coast Gear Supply has a replacement bushing, that can solve the grinding/growling.
