I skimmed through the tread, and I'd say that every comment I read had valid points. You asked about an air compressor. My answer is absolutely! And add a tire repair kit.
Also keep in mind that 235/85 r16 tires have conquered every desert on the planet. Bigger isn't always better, but bigger does wear things out fast. Have you watched any of Andrew St Pierre Whites videos? His channel is 4x4overland. He does a good job with his channel.

I was just like you - wanted a 3rd gen all my life, but was sitting around waiting forever for the "perfect" one to show up. Eventually said screw it, picked up the cleanest one in my price range and started building! Bought my truck a few months ago with ~280k and it's strong as ever, recently gonna go for a lift, widen the stance, new wheels/brakes and aftermarket bumpers, all hopefully before fall/winter. Next year I'm gonna tackle an E-Locker. These cars can truly be bulletproof if they've been cared for, never say it's too late!
When it comes to these cars, your best options now are either wait a few more years until imports open up, then baby it around town every other Sunday, or you can buy one now and enjoy it till the end. Or both!

Since my last post, a lot has happened. Here's a quick breakdown :typing:

*Sherpa Equipment CO Matterhorn MK II roof rack
*Extreme LED Dual Amber/White Light Bar
*Ditch Lights
*Voswitch UV100 Switch Panel (HIGHLY RECOMENDED)
*MKII Maxtrax (Black)
*ARB Awning
*VIAIR 400P Air Compressor
*2002 Center Console Swap
*1.25" Hub-Centric Wheel Spacers
Purchased Not Installed Yet
*Addicted Offroad Plate Bumper
*TECH Customs BX Built Retrofit Headlights (Apolo Shrouds)
*285/75/R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3 Tires
*ImKeith's panhard correction kit
*Extended front & rear brake lines
Maintenance has been continued. Radiator flush/new radiator, transmission fluid flush/transmission filter coming up next week. New LBJ's purchased (OEM) and will be installed soon. New SPC UCA's purchased and will be installed in 3 weeks.
Currently waiting on a response from anybody who can assist me with a question on front suspension before I pull the trigger. Essentially wondering if the 3rd gen 4Runner version of the Bilstein 5100 front shocks will be long enough to run the Wheeler's T1 3" lift coils (find post on my profile if you're interested or have feedback).
Purchasing 4th gen Bilstein 5100 rear shocks, and Toytec 3" lift coils for the rear.

Here's an update where we're at today.
Looks good man. I kinda have the same setup as you. How you liking the Wheeler's T1 coils? They are too stiff for me IMO and I'm looking to update my front suspension with Elka's.

Not my thread but I had wheelers T1 coils and they were way too tough for me. I picked up a set of 5th gen 4runner OEM front springs from the local classifieds for cheap and they’ve worked great thus far.
