Beginning Production Date of 4th Gens?

I just bought an Imperial Jade 2003 T4R 2 days ago, rockon and checking the dj date code earlier tonight, was sort of surprised to see a date code of 12-02, I'm thinking this thing must have been one of the very very first 4th gens made?

School me please.

Sounds like its one of the first batches. Typically model years are released a couple months or less than the advertised model year.

i.e. the 2015 Models are probably going to be made around November/December to be ready to sell around the holidays.

Yeah, it's a pretty early one. The last few digits should be the sequence number.
If you got 000001, be sure there was a (subdued) celebration at the end of the production line. :first:

Mine is a 2003 SR5 V8 (570th 4th gen made) and it was made 10/02

The 2011 Avalon I just traded in on my new 4runner was made 4/10. It just depends on when the new models or redesigns are introduced.

My V6 was made in 11/02. I seem to remember hearing that the V8's went into production a bit earlier than the V6.
