BEWARE RUST. victory 4x4 rear bumper

I've had my victory 4x4 rear bumper on less that a year, I didn't get the swing outs and used the plastic caps and silicone to cover the swing out tubes as suggested in the installation video. Monday I noticed bubbling under the powder coat around both holes, I pried off the caps and in both holes everything was covered in rust, I got out the wire wheel and cleaned out the tubes best I could, got a shaker can of Rustolium, taped off around the tubes holes and went to town, with several coats. the plugs are now in the trash, the tubes are open and allowed to air dry, I hope I caught it in time before it gets too bad under the powder coating. got to say im pretty disappointed about this.

For sure reach out to Victory. I've had mine on since late 2019, one swingout removed and no cap at all. Just ran it with a big hole and I haven't had any rust issues. Maybe something didn't go well with the powder coat?

i mean its steel, it rusts. all the caps do is vibrate against the powdercoat and hold moisture. Sucks for sure though.

Having spent more than a few years in the metal finishing business, I can (unfortunately) assure you that no aftermarket paint / powder coat finish has anywhere near the corrosion resistance of OEM finishes. The big difference is poor surface preparation. You can apply the best paint / powder coat finishes in the world, but if you don't prepare the surface properly, you'll get what you have. Sorry.
