BFG A/T's vs BFG Rugged Terrain vs Nitto TGs...HELP!!

ps...now it's time to go get some mud on the rig! Going camping later today and hoping for a little off road shenanigans. I have so many ideas of what I'd like to modify next, but don't know where to start. And my budget is super tight right now :-(

Don't get those too deep in the mud and keep an eye out for sharp rocks. We had a guy slice 2 tires of those tires a few months back. Turns out they have a softer 2-ply sidewall compared to the 3-ply carcass of the BFG off road tire lineup. He called BFG after to complain and try to warrenty. Unfortunately he was informed the tires were really designed for on-road use and to 'look' more aggressive but be able to retain better ride quality when compared to the off-road series of tires. Suppose to be a great OEM tire, quiet and ride excellent. But keep an eye out on the trail.

Great thread. I have the EXACT 4runner and intend on doing the same thing. This makes it easy. Althoug I need to do some research on the pirelli Scorpions. They look really nice.

Just my 2cents for the Rugged Terrains...they are not that great in the rain or on any slippery surface. They don't have any sips in them so you might find yourself losing traction accelerating from a red light on a rainy day. I had the LSD kick in quite a few times on turns going up hill or when i accelerate moderately hard from a red light.

I usually engage 4Hi when it rains hard. Other than that, they are a great tire.
