BFG Rugged Terrain TA

Got some new tires the other day, wanted something more aggressive but still reasonable on the highway. So far I am very happy.

2008 Urban Runner 4wd
BFG Rugged Terrain TA 265/65/18
FJ Springs
1" Toytech Front Spacer

FYI: I first mounted 255/70/18 and they rubbed quite a bit.

Sweet. My exact setup and I'm in the market for tires. I'll prob stick with factory size, unless I go for bfg at ko's. Then I'd have to get a 265/65. Can't decide between these two bfg options, revos, or discoverer 3's.

BFGs have served me well in the past, I had the BFG KO ATs on my old Chevy Pickup and G-Force KDW2s (sick tread design) on my Mustang. The ATs were great tires, but they were on the noisy side especially at highway speed. Most of my driving is interstate so I went with the less aggressive Rugged Terrains. I don't think you can go wrong with the high-end BFGs.

Just replaced the Duelers with the same sneakers. Suprised how quiet they are given the aggressive tread pattern. Handling is improved and yes they do look nasty compared to OEM...lets hope they last as long

I replaced both my Runner's stock Dun-flops with BFG's, and theyve done me extremely well! My 03 has the same BFG's that i put on it at 32k, it has 92k now and still plenty of tread! I prefer the raised-white lettering tho. I hear it adds 2-3 horsepower ;-).

Good choice. Rugged terrain is what I will put on next summer. Probably a 265/65/17. Kinda want a 265/70/17 but fear that an extra inch will screw up the transmission ratio somehow.

My Hankook Dynapro's will need replaced next fall and I will keep the Rugged Terrain as an option. Thanks for the info.

I have a stock suspension/ride height (and dont plan to change) 07 4R
w 265/6018's, I like these BFG's but don't want to rub, at all.

suggestions?

Hey momo.75, I bought the Rugged Terrains after sawing your posts when you bought them awhile ago! I was looking for some new ones and didnt want the BFG AT tires (had them in my old car) since I drive on hwy most of the time. I settled with the Rugged Terrains after noticing the aggressive treading and of course your thread lol.

So far in heavy rain, they have been quite stable. Went off roading with them a few months ago in a deactivated logging road and they were awesome. Not sure how they will handle in the snow or extreme slippery conditions since they are not sipped.

I will vouch for theses tires as well, got them about a month ago on my 06 Limited 4WD. Mods: Bilstein 5100's set at 2nd setting, 1.5 Toytech Rear Spring Spacer + Spidertrax.



I originally went with 275/65/18 the tire shop put one and and told me they just were going to rub the bumper off. So I went with the 265/65/18 (odd size), minor rubbing on plastic in the front fender well , but nothing to be concerned about. Overall amazing tires, I am used to the low profile road tires, these are just as smooth. Great in the rain and on highway. Haven't had a chance to test them out off the pavement yet. On top of it all BFG (Michelin) warrantys these for 50,000 miles.

I have the 265/65 18 as well. I got them when i just had the DS spacer lift. Now that i have the Bilsteins and OME/Superflex springs I wish i had the 275/65 18's. Mine are right at a year old so it will be a while before i can move up. They don't look terrible, but it will look a little better with a little larger tire.

I have had there tires on my truck since late august and really like them, No Excuses not to rebuy, next time I will go to a load range C due to towing.
