Big Bear Run

Planning a run up to Big Bear for the weekend of April 12th,13th. That's a Friday and Saturday. The Serrano Campground on the North Shore is open and provides quick access to many great trails. Going to run the 'blue square rated' trails. Grapevine Canyon, Jacoby Canyon, and Clarks Summit will be on the list. They also link up with the John Bull and Gold Mtn. trails if anyone is up for some 'black diamond' hardcore trails. So far bluecollarjock and mcgyver have expressed interest. Anyone else ready for the high country!?

Black Diamond hardcore? haha....I am a newbie to Cali wheeling and rocks, and never wheeled the 4runner....will I be able to hang with you gurus? Camping sounds awesome!

No black diamonds... only the moderate blue square trails. I only mentioned the more hardcore stuff in case anyone was interested. I too am excited about camping. I usually stay at Hanna Flat, Crab Flats, or Green Valley but they don't open till May. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that Serrano was open. Either 1 or 2 nights? If not we can still go for the day.

Awesome....I havent been camping in Cali and I gotta check to even see what supplies I have hah...I might be buying a cheap sleeping bag and throwing some blankets in the back of the yota and winging it hah

Most of my pictures are pre-digital, however I do have some on an old cell phone I'm trying to find. In the meantime, go on dirtopia.com to check out the trails I mentioned.

Due to the overwhelming response...(maybe EGL was right). For any members or non-members contemplating making this run, here is ur chance to run some of thee best and most scenic trails SoCal has to offer. Accompanied by ppl who are very familiar with the trails around Big Bear. My buddy Carlos (some of u met him on the Palomar run) will be going. He's a master mechanic/fabricator and all around great guy. Nobody gets left behind!

I can attest, this will be epic. Unfortunately, I'm buried this month so I won't new able to make it. Have fun and take lots of pictures for us Web wheelers

I would love to make this trip, spent years up there competing in the snow summit amateur cup, now I'm a 260lb computer nerd with a 4x4.. Let me see if I can get a hall pass...

Keemon not sure if we're gonna start out at the 38 east of Berdoo and come up Clarks into Big Bear or just go straight into BB and hit the trails on the north side of the lake and run Clarks later that day. Depending on timeline, maybe run Clarks the next day, end up on 38 and we'll part ways there. I'll let u know for sure as the time draws near. Dlak, I sure hope u can make it. Any input from others is appreciated. :driving:

Would a day run be more doable for y'all? Say on Saturday the 13th... Meet up early on the north shore and head out from there...? Let me know as nothings chiseled in stone yet. My schedule is very flexible.

I may be down for this. Just have my Icon stage one installed today and can't wait to see what it can do. For sure day trip for me though if I'm going.

I'm down for a Saturday day run starting from the north shore side and doing the trails on that end first. If time allows it then hit up Clark's from there. Last time we did Clark's grade first then onto jacoby.

Great news! So glad ur coming. I'm planning our route so I'm not positive of our meet-up point. Thinking maybe Running Springs or Arrowbear. Then we can caravan from there.

If my plans for that saturday fall through (which is a good possibility), I will join you guys. I have been wanting to run the trails up there.

The meet-up point will be the Valero station at 32755 HWY.18 Running Springs CA 92382 on Saturday April 13th at 7:30am. :thumb3:
