Well this weekend I finally installed all the Mods iv had sitting around with one of my buddies. The mods installed this weekend were a CornFed 3/2 Spacer lift, SpiderTrax wheel spacers, Toyotec front diff drop, Toyotec front swaybar reloactor, and 06 LED taillights. The final result is awesome. So glad everything went on smooth.
The CornFed lift didnt come with any instructions for the front so it took me a little over two hours to figure out how I was going to attack it and get it all put together. Once i had everything figured out and finished the drivers side in about 2 and a half hours, the passenger side went on in a little under an hour. I have access to a full garage of basically every tool possible which made the proccess incredibly smooth. For the front I ended up basically dissasembling the entire wheel well. I disconnected the upper control arm, tie rod, sway bar, brake caliber, and took the locking nut off of the axle on the hub so i could manuver the lower control arm and hub easily to work on the shock and spring assembly. Once i had it all disconnected the shock and spring assembly came out very easily and I had plenty of room to attach the spring compressors. Once compressed it all came apart in minutes. I wasnt too sure about the quality of the bolts and nuts supplied with the CornFed so I went to the local NAPA Auto Parts store and purchased new grade 8 nuts and bolts. Once the CornFed spacers were installed it all went back together quick and easy.
The front dif drop and sway bar relocation both went in next and the two of them together only took about 15 minutes.
The rear spacers went in incredibly easy, it only took about an hour to do both sides. Disconnected the rear sway bar and lower bolt on the shock and used the biggest prybar I had to pry down the rear assembly and the springs popped right out. While I had them out I installed a Firestone rear airbag setup which went in without a problem. Once I had all the lines run and ready to go I installed the spring with the airbag in place and the rear CornFed Spacer and bolted everything back up.
The SpiderTrax are self explanitory, just bolt them to the existing studs and then the wheel to the SpiderTrax studs, simple enough. Last was the new 06 LED tails. I bought them from Rockauto.com. They are TYC brand replacement taillights and cost $90 a peice. They are direct fit and only took about 20 minutes total for both sides. Just dissconnect the connector from the old tails, unbolted the two 10mm nuts holding the tails on and they pop right out. Removed the old blinker and back up lights from the stock tails and install directly into the new tails. I cleaned the area the the lights fit into because there was some dirt and crub under there. Fit the the tails right into place and install the two 10mm bolts that you took off of the stock tails. Reconnect the connection and make sure you have it seated properly into the taillight assembly so that all lights recieve power. If you do this and the blinkers and backups dont work make sure you have the brakelight connection fully seated.
And with all that the long day of mods was complete. Really happy with all the results. Everything is working perfectly. I like the ride height of the 3/2 spacers and the ride quality achieved by retaining the X-REAS suspension. I plan on an OME in the future with front and rear bumpers but for now the CornFed works perfect. I dont do a whole lot of off-roading so it isnt neccessary right now. In the near future I will be installing some 285/70/R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. CANT WAIT!!! Well that was my big mod weekend. Hope you guys enjoy it. :thumb3:
