isn't that the wrong shock for the 5th gen 4Runner? there's supposed to be a stem at the bottom.

also, i'm not so sure about a 6" lift on a 5th gen 4Runner without a bracket lift.

Is it me or do Hawaiians love their 6" lifts? Must be a brah thing.

Looks like people are assuming you aren't using a bracket lift; I thought it was safe to assume you ARE.
Can you confirm you are using a bracket lift before one of these fellas has an aneurism?
As long as you're using a bracket lift, the 6112 shouldn't ride much different than on a rig without the bracket lift- as the brackets(theoretically) keep your geometry close to stock.

6112's set at the highest perch

V8eR_Runner,

Are those the TRD coils on bilstein 6112s? Do they fit properly without any mod to either the coil or to the 6112?

Do you have the free length of the TRD coil and its spring rate?

Thanks!

They are the 6112 springs but I had them powder coated to match the original TRD suspension.

I see, Would you happen to know if the TRDP front coil springs will fit the bilstein 6112 shocks?

Here they are side by side. Pretty much identical diameter body just with additional notches for height adjustment on the 6112s. I believe the 6112s are valved differently tho compared to the TRDP shocks due to different spring rates. The 6112 Springs being stiffer minimize the brake dive that the stock TRDP Springs have.

I almost have the same setup. The 6112s are cherry. I would try test um out Kaena Point before chopping frame for the fabtech.

I used it at kaena about 4x it works perfect but you already know how Oahu is everyone likes to go high lol plus I might keep the 6112 and use it with the kit..

Lol gotta hate the low parking structures in town tho. Thank goodness we don't have recon here on the big island. We have a ton of 6-8" lifted ones over here all pretty much lifted straight from the dealership lot with paper plates. If you going commit to chopping frame for the 6" might as well go all out one time. I'd probably look into selling the 6112s and getting a full coilover replacement from icon, Fox or king with the 6" either way the barrel spacers will be fine also since the drop bracket will give you close to if not oem axle geometry by moving everything downwards. Will you gain ground clearance? Not really unless you trim fender liners and cut cab mounts for bigger tires. You'll gain body clearance if anything which helps with entry and departure angles in some situations. Keep in mind you will be at a higher center of gravity which isn't ideal if you plan to take it heavily off roading. If anything spend the money on regearing and some good lockers front and rear [emoji41]

It seems that the 6112 coils are not only stiffer but are also longer since the 6112 shocks have adjustment notches below the lowest notch level of the TRDP shocks.

I was thinking that the TRDP coils are longer and could provide more lift than the 6112s could.

Is the TRD shock in the picture from the FJ, 4runner or Tacoma? I am curious, because the FJ kit has the spring perch 1" lower on the shock compared to the 4runner and Tacoma. The FJ kit also uses a 14" spring to make up the difference. Is the 6112 spring 13" long?
