Bizarre window issues... Google-fu has failed me. Help me T4r, you're my only hope.

Hey guys, the driver's side window on my 2000 SR5 stutters or chatters when rolling up and down. Not that weird right? Except it's not the window track because it's completely smooth if I roll the window up or down with accessory power on and the engine off, but the second I start the car it gets jerky. Another reason I know it's not the track is because the motor continues to stutter of chatter under power even if the window is all the way up or down.

I did purchase a new motor and regulator and was going to just replace them both, but then I noticed the problem disappeared without the engine on. Now I think it's some kind of voltage regulation issue or something.

I've searched the forum and searched Google and am getting nothing. All other windows are unaffected. What the hell is going on?

Time to break out the meter. You will need to pull the panel and hook up to the two wires going into the window motor. Run the motor with the key off and on and record your DC voltage when hitting the switch.

is there any screeching sound? on my own 4Runner, the window on the driver's side screeches for the initial quarter to third of the way as it's going down, but then the screeching stops, and there is no screeching at all as that window is going back up... none of the other windows do this

My window jumps of the track if you shut the door with the window down.

Makes a real PITA if the weather unexpectedly changes. Had to take the entire panel off, unbolt the window from the track, and finagle it back into the track.

I would start like stated above: checking the voltage at the motor. If its all the same, it might be something else that's causing. Maybe a bad switch or something.
