Black Friday Tire Sale?

Just saw a link that listed some of the Black Friday sales at Walmart. One of them was for the following:

Goodyear Wrangler HP P265/70R17 Tires: 99 bucks each.

This is a truck/SUV tire and the normal price on the Walmart website is roughly 250 bucks each. TPMS might add a few bucks more. You can find lower prices on the internet, but the cheapest I saw was 155 bucks and that didn't include shipping or installation. It appears that the Walmart price includes mounting the tires.

Anyone have this tire on their 4runner? Do you like it?

The pricing is good from 5am on the 23rd through closing on the 25th at the Walmart near me. You can see the special on the Walmart website. Just check to see if the one near you has a tire center.

Seems like a pretty good deal if you are in the market for new tires.

That's an amazing price. In all honesty, I haven't heard good things about the "made for Walmart" Goodyear tires but it might be worth it for that price even if they're ****.

Agree to never buy Tires from Walmart. Also, never to let a Walmart employee touch my vehicle. I will never go cheap on Rubber items. Tires, rubbers, rubber gloves :biggrin2:

wrangler hp's are not made for walmart. dodge has been using them as OEM tires on the Ram 1500's since they began putting 20" rims on their pickups. i have also seen them on some Honda small suv's and some Ridgelines as OEM tires.

That is a great deal, even if it's from walmart i would probably pull the trigger on those tires.
Can't really go wrong for that price!

These aren't tires but I know toytec usually has a 10% code off all the there stuff around black friday.

Also Last year for a news eve special Tirebuyer had a 10% code and i pulled the trigger on some nitto's.

Wallmart does have their own special tires from manufacturers...but they also sell the EXACT same tires you buy from other tire manufacturers.

I hear their "name brand tires" do not have the normal warranties from manufacture and are made specificaly for them at their required price point.
I would not even want them touching a vehicle of mine.

Well for $400 bucks a set mounted and balanced, I'd say just go for it. How bad can they be, even if you buy the speculation/theory that they are bad?

I feel like a lot of people forget they drive Toyota Trucks and not Ferrari Enzos. It will be fine :wink2:

Just wanted to add in here that I dug around the internet a bit before I posted this. A whole lot of the links stated that these tires are OEM gear for U.S. manufactured trucks. I get the fact that some folks believe that any tire sold by Walmart must be somehow defective, but this particular model is sold by a lot of the tire retailers out there.

I guess I would just wonder how Goodyear would consider it good business to sell completely defective tires with the same brand name to Walmart and sell the good tires to Auto Dealers and more reputable tire stores. Nobody wins in this case.

Maybe these tires are truly crap. But 400 bucks plus tax for a set of four is hard to ignore.

Druss is right. The tires are made to wal-mart's price standard. I would stay away.

i called a friend of mine who works at NTB about this. he states there is quite a large markup on tires especially if it is the only thing the shop does. it has nothing to do with a price point or changing the tire quality.

yes goodyear, sumitomo, michelin, firestone etc... all have off brands or have lower price tires to sell to "chain" stores or repair shop to sell at a much lower price for people trying to save a little money. but don't forget Walmart is a HUGE company and has alot of buying power. they probably made a deal with Goodyear and bought twice as many of these tires as a NTB or Tire Warehouse would normally buy and are able to sell them for less $. for all we know goodyear might be discontinuing them and Walmart bought most of the inventory.

we did it a few years ago on my stepdaughters mitsubishi. she did not have a whole lot of money at 17 so we found 4 tires mounted and balanced for 240.00(they were NOT from Walmart). they lasted 1 1/2 years and 17000 miles. NEVER AGAIN.

I haven't bought a single thing from Wally World for around 10 years. Refuse to spend any of my money there. I have my Wife and children on board with this refusal as well.

These tires are NOT specifically made for Wallmart....These exact same tires are sold by Goodyear at the Goodyear store and even at Sears.

Wallmart AND Sears do sell exclusive band tires made for them by the tire manufacturers.

In either case the tires are NOT any less quality that you can buy from any other tire store. If someone has HARD FACTS to the contrary I'd like to see them.

What you do have to worry about at Wallmart (or any other chain as far as I'm concerned) is the quality of the so called mechanics doing the work. Personally I'd spend extra money going to a local tire shop that knows what they're doing and I trust. Tire shop I buy from...their prices are good...and they don't have high-school drop-outs doing the work. In fact when the shop gets busy...the owner is out there helping.

Buying power is key, You ca n sell for alot less when you buy 400,000 of the same tire and undercut the market. that being said ill bite hopefully kalispell montana walmart has these
